In a bid to put a check on duplication, the Reserve Bank of India has announced plans of introducing polymer or plastic currency notes by replacing paper currency notes.The Banking Ombudsman from the Reserve Bank of India O P Agarwal told Herald here that the trial would take place in selected cities before actually circulating them all over the country."The bank will issue Rs 10 notes in five cities as part of field trial. Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Mysore, Shimla and Kochi will be the first cities to try out the plastic notes", he said."It will take a few months till we actually use these revolutionary plastic notes", Agarwal said.Further, he continued, as a pilot project the bank has decided to introduce one hundred crore pieces of Rs 10 polymer notes, for which bank has floated global tender.
