Been a few years since I stayed at the Donaire, but at the time was pleasantly surprised especially with the size of the rooms.
Forget the usual "box" type rooms - Because of the general construction of the hotel - most bedrooms were much bigger and differently laid out to what you you would normally find.
The rest of the Hotel was OK too.

I think La Pineda has come on a little since I was there so I'm not sure what the local night life is like now We went in October and it was well on the way to winding down for the winter. However Salou itself is just a short bus ride away, where everything was still going on regarding bars, restaurants etc.

I've mentioned it before - If you want to impress the locals, we found the Hotel name was acually pronounced -"Donairee"

My family and myself went ther last year and we will be going there again this year in june. we have 1 girl age 5 and she loved it there in fact my wife liked it more than benidorm. so hope you have a great time there

I have stayed there a few times, the last being may 2005 and to be honest there is not a lot to do outside of the hotel. A couple of bars, more hotels which you can go in to watch their entertainment.
The hotel has decent family entertainment but maybe not too much for the 13 yr old, depends what your kids like. Mine love it at the Donaire, all they want to do is fish from the rocks at the side of the beach, they would be there day and night if i let them
Salou is only 10 mins down the road if you fancy a change, the bus stops are outside of the hotel, so its easy to get to.
