Hi Maggie,

In case you've missed them, there are quite a few reviews of Obzor in the Resort Reports section, as well as reviews of the RIU Helios Bay in the Hotel Reviews section.

We spent a week in Obzor last August and it was our first time in Bulgaria staying at the Riu Helios Bay.

The resort is as described in the brochures very quiet and small but pleasant. The town square was busy at the weekend we were there but mid-week not much going on at all so good for a chill-out holiday. The three times we ate out during the week were a bit of a disappointment for us so I can't recommend any restaurants. We're not ones for eating in the hotel normally but resorted to this after the poor food we had in local restaurants, but maybe we were just unlucky in the ones we chose! The food in the hotel was excellent fortunately and service couldn't be faulted. The beach is also really nice and very clean.

We didn't come across any English bars and the resort isn't particularly geared up for English tourists but I actually preferred this (no Sunday Lunch or egg and chip places etc...). Very few of the locals spoke English (although the hotel staff did) but we made the effort to try and communicate and found them to be lovely people.

is there a bank in obzor?

A an estate agency/property developer website claims that there is a Post Office and a bank in Obzor - a search of the most likely Bulgarian high street banks' websites (Postbank/CCB/UBB/Raiffeisen/DSK/Bulbank/FIB) does not reveal a branch there so, hopefully, someone who has stayed in the town will be able to give you more information.

I have checked for a bank now on the ATM locator from Fiona - according to that there are at least three cash machines - what a useful tool - only a week to go!!!!
Thanx
