Im going to Ios with a few mates and I was just wondering if any had been before and could let me know how expensive or cheap it may be. Drink and food wise. And also is the nightlife good is it really busy with tourists or is it still a reasonably quiet location. Thanks
Ios is a great place to Party. Theres loads of bars and clubs and its relatively cheap in terms of other greek Islands. There will be allsorts of offers on with the drinks and there are lots bakeries and fast food places where you can get food on the cheap of required.
There are also some lovely tavernas and nice chilled out bars. Its not like Kardamena or Malia, the nightlife is just as good, but without the idiots.
There is an awesome beach called Mylopotas beach with loads of watersports and sunbeds.
The main area for nightlife is called 'the square' which is a tiny square where eveyone gathers. There are loads of Aussies and Irish and if you're a single guy, you'll be like achild in a sweet shop! Get in!

I have been going to Ios amongst a load of other Greek Islands for over 25 years.
It's about average for a Greek island, no longer cheap, not as expensive as the likes of Mykonos. The Chora is almost all fast food outlets, difficult to find any proper tavernas, again pretty average prices. Will be expensive this year due to the exchange rate of course.
In season the Chora and the bars are totally packed with tourists, like sardines in the narrow streets all night. The stench in streets and bars is awesome all the inevitable idiots throwing up everywhere. Off season it is much more pleasant. There are some excellent beaches around the island, relatively deserted as no-one gets up much before sunset.

is more of a stereotype than a reality. I also have been to Ios half a dozen times (the last was last year, in July, with my wife and our two year old boy) and we ate in some lovely tavernas, were on the beach early (with plenty of others) and the streets were clean and smell free. We never saw one person thrown up anywhere and only met nice people and stayed in a beautiful apartment block just out of the centre.

Ios is not so cheap compared to islands like Mykonos and Santorini.

Ios was beautiful, my neice went in the summer and really enjoyed the partying, we went in October and it was pretty and chilled and I would go back!!
