There is a massive Irish bar right in the middle of pub street - don't know if they show gaelic footy, but they certainly show premiership games... - it's a bit rough though - the afternoon that we went there were no loo seats, no toilet paper and great holes had been punched in the toilet cubicle doors (even in the ladies), so no privacy either!!

Enjoy!

i think theres an irish bar in san antonio bay ive been told its near our apts the sol post, not going till 3rd of sept ,but this is only what ive heard off other people :?: 8)

Theres an Irish Bar called Joe Spoons in San Antonio Town and there are also a couple of others in San Antonio Bay, one deffinately near the Sol Post/Costa Sur hotel and Apartments.

I have no idea whether they'll have Setanta Sports and therefore show the GAA, but they all have Sky Digital so should have access to Setanta subject to subscriptions.

If you check the Setanta Sports website it has a directory of bars worldwide that have Setanta Sports.

Joe Spoons is the big Irish pub in San An and it is owned by an ex Northerner. But don,t worry about missing the match as Tyrone ain' t got a chance.

GAA
Hi
We shall just have to wait and see, but remember to bring your hankies with you as you shall need them. All those poor Tyrone people weeping and bawling. At least you can go drownd your sorrows as you will be on holidays.
By the way who is favourite to win as I have not got a clue about GAA

Enjoy your hols

Robert.

:D there is an irish bar in the bay area called 'donnegans'.it's beside the las perlas apts.it's fairly large but i think they have stopped showing gaelic sports and now concentrate on 'superleague' .
there are also 2 in the west end area.joe spoons and murphys.
joe spoons only play cd's but murphys have live music every night.

Joe Spoons used to always have live music as well.
Irish lad with longish curly hair used to play guitar, keyboards and do vocals.

:D joes spoons used to be ok but it has gone down the pan in the last few years.it,s not too bad if you sit outside, but the barmen try and con you regularly.they tell you different prices for the same round each time you pay.
i'm going again on the 3rd of sept so it should be a bit quieter than normal then.don't think i'll spend much time in joes though..

Yes Marc I must agree with you regarding price charging at Joe Spoons.
D o you think the floor staff are on the make for them selves ?.
Next time in San An I will also give it a miss.

There are very little true Irish bars left around Spain. A lot are run by the local Spanish and many are owned by British. Also there is a no smoking policy in all Southern Irish bars now, some how I can't see the Irish bars in Spain trying to pull that one off.

:) that no smoking policy is a nightmare!!i live a mile away from the republic and when we go out down there, i always forget and light up!! :bhead nearly got caught a few times!something like a 400 euro fine if they catch you...
