Its the same as everywhere in Europe .. check with your bank here in the Uk see what the charge is for with drawing cash abroad. my bank charges about £2.00 per transaction
I use atms in both Northern Ireland and the South and there's no difference in charges. Obviously there's a built-in charge for the currency conversion but I've always found it much cheaper than changing Sterling into Euros in the UK.
The ATM's usually charge £1.50 for the use of and £1.00 exchage rate. I now tend to take out larger amounts. However changing sterling to euro's is free in most places now, try the post office and Marks and Spencer usually offer a good exchange rate. Kaz
Nationwide don't charge for taking currency from ATM's.
yep this is a good tip about Nationwide Building Society i opened an account before i went to egypt and there are no charges at all for atm withdrawals in a foreign country no matter where in the world you are, i opened a flexi account. elaine
just a bit of advice about atm's here in dublin....at the moment we are having lots of problems with hidden cameras at atm machines and card scanning equiptment. this only concerns atm machines based outdoors as a rule because these are not usually guarded by security men. most main banks in dublin have inside atm's and theyare open at weekends but they only open 9 to 5. the banks and police over here suggest a few guidlines to help combat fraud, mainly covering the number pad over when putting in pins and be aware of groups hanging around with mobile phnes....not vey helpful, but effective in most cases. i would personally suggest that you only use main branches in dublin i.e. aib grafton street - it has indoor gaurded machines. please donot let this put you off your visit hear, this is not meant to scare anyone, its just handy to be aware of the situation.
