Can we please keep information relating to the current climatic events on the dedicated Volcanic Ash Closes Airspace topic to avoid duplication and in the interest of other members.

I'm supposed to flying out on May 15th....but they are now saying the knock on effect could take weeks and weeks to sort out.

But I am just one of probably thousands that are just waiting to see what happens......roll on strong winds and stormy weather! :)

I'm due to go in July, but even so the reports do worry me slightly...I'm hopeful we will be having our Efes though! :cheers

My daughters friends is currently stuck in Side...she was meant to leave Antalya as 14.30 turkish time, a couple of mins we got the message that she is still on the beach. Apparently the ash has reached Istanbul, so flights via there are obviously difficult, and it is predicted to be over Antalya in the next few days.

(Mods - decided to post on this thread rather than main one as info won't really help anyone, but thought the people on the turkey forum may be interested.)

I will get to know on Thursday if my May 3rd holiday is cancelled because of the building work in Gumbet.
I have a feeling that the ash will be taken into consideration too and we will definitely have our holiday cancelled.
After going through a lot of stress since Friday because of my family being stranded in Singapore I will be relieved it it is cancelled. :cry

Im also very worried, due to fly out to marmaris on 9th may... and the thought of it being cancelled sickens me, after saving up for the last 18months for myself and 3 daughters to go out for 3 weeks, what would happen? would we be transferred for another date? would we get our money back? or am i destined to lose out on £1600? we have direct holiday insurance, but only got the basic deal :( i booked through teletext and made sure it was atol protected (does this actually mean anything with it being an act of god)?, we are flying out with thomas cook... should i be contacting them now to find out what will happen in the event of this smoke cloud preventing us from travelling? aaarrrggghhh so many questions... hope somebody on here can put my mind at ease!

We're stuck in Turkey at the moment. we've been able to rebook flights for next Tuesday, one week late but are lucky having somewhere to stay. We have been told that the Red Cross have provided beds for hundreds of travellers stuck at Dalaman. Its great to be stuck here in the sun but only if you are not paying for accommodation.
Good luck to everyone else who's either stuck abroad or worried about a forthcoming holiday.

I am due to go May 5th to Fethyie and have been keeping my eyes and ears on all forums and news I can to see that happening. Unfortunatly all you can do is sit and wait. It is changing every hour and who knows what will happen.

To michelleclr if i were you i would call up the companies because each is different but what im finding again and again if you got your insurance before the volcano your ok and if you got a package holiday your ok. If you got flights from a package holiday company ie Thomas Cook then they will arrange other flights and look after you if stranded but the accomodation is not covered by this.

We have flights with Thomas Cook and holiday with someone else - bummer
I hadnt got insurance yet - Bummer
I have been saving for this holiday for months and cant afford another - BUMMER

Good luck to everyone and keep fingers crossed

I am due to go to Turkey on the 2nd May but I hope its cancelled if my daughter and her family are still stranded in Singapore or any other country the airline may eventually fly them to.
They have been abandoned by the airline and are having a very stressful time and I am sure other families are having the same stress if they are on a flight only.
I just hope they are all home soon. :rofl
