Don't know if I can put a web address?
daijiworld.com has some very interesting articles in its Goa area. It certainly seems the Russian honeymoon is over.
My view is that, the Goan authorities bent over backwards to welcome the rich Russians of a few years ago, but these have now moved on and now the less well off, and the criminal minds are visiting and spending less and causing more trouble, it seems to have backfired.
Maybe they will start appreciating the Brits a bit more in future?
Please note, it is the Goan authorities I am referring to. I have found all the Goans I have dealt with on my holidays to be their same welcoming selves all along.
All the rich Russians are in Thailand spending their money in droves!!!!
Good! At least will not be hanging around the forum like a bad smell!
Do you get many Russians on here then blobb?

Spaldy have you been planted here by the Thai tourist board. I honestly can't think what other reason there could possibly be that you constantly push Thailand at every opportunity. This is the forum about Goa - the good and the bad - where newbies can find answers to their questions and were old timers can look back fondly on happy memories and have the occasional moan about changing times.
If Thailand is so blooming greatl why arent you on the Thai forum waxing lyrical constantly about how wonderful it is.
We have all got the picture, you don't like Goa any more, the majority of us here still do so why not move on. Leave us to mad Mickey, lack of infastructure and everything else you hate about the place.
Personally, I couldnt care less where the rich Russians or anyone else chooses to holiday. Being rich doesnt make a person less obnoxious, you will get the loud and brash irrespective of their income, just as you do with British and any other nationality.
Sorry mods if this post is out of order, I enjoy coming here looking at peoples holiday reports and photos etc, I dont want to be constantly told about what a rubbish destination I have chosen as my r & r place for many years past. For the record, yes I have been to Thailand, I know quite a few ex pats who live in Thailand and the problems they have had. Been there, done that and hated the place!!!
Hi roxey... well said....
This year we are off to the Domincan Republic in May purely as its our wedding anniversary in May so Goa is not an option. Don`t really know how I am going to feel about not visiting Goa, mixed feelings I suppose as I will certainly miss Goa and my few good friends I made over the last 11 years, on the other hand it could be the start of something new. I am going to monitor the situation over the next year and to be honest any more messing about with visas and the like I can see having second thoughts, there is still magic in Goa so maybe a break will rekindle that magic, let`s wait and see
Excellent post Roxey
Well said Roxey
annx
Good on you Roxy you have said everything I think a few weeks back I was ready to call H/T a day I was fed up with the same old OH DEAR OH DEAR poster writing bad things on the forum it got I did not come on the forum BUT at the end of the day no body is going to put me off Goa I love it warts and all
I have to agree with you Roxy. Spaldy its time to take note and move on or leave the Goa fans alone.
No - it doesn't seem to be. Yet another happy trip report on here tonight would point clearly to the fact that it isn't. Perhaps its time now to concentrate on those reports. For longtermers, you are very welcome here as most give a very balanced view and help those who are new to Goa. For those expats with their own agenda though- move on. This is NOT the forum for you.
Sarah- just realised you posted while I was still writing my post On the same wavelength- along with most of our members
Will be there in 3 weeks time and will post a report when back, the good and the bad - but from what I have been reading, and speaking to people who don't come on here - it certainly is not over for a great destination.
Spike.
Ok I for one have had enough. Spaldy banned.
If it was all over why would we all be counting the days till we go???
It is now !
Spaldy banned.
Must admit I feel sorry for Spaldy because much as though his recent postings have become more and more negative he obviously misses Goa as he can't stay away from the forum. He has presumably had his travel/ living plans altered by the new two month rule and can't return to Goa as he probably originally intended and consequently is hitting out at anything Goan in response.
Ah well Spaldy, at least you can still read about how the vast majority of people still enjoy Goa and what it has to offer.
well said everyone, one piont though,we had our anniversary in goa last trip.and had a marvelous time, hotel put on free fireworks, friends got chef to bake a cake, had champagne, all around the pool, what more can you ask for on a special day,,[it,s going to be our anniversary on our next trip as well, lol] can,t wait.
