I have just been looking at the pics of Albufeira and a lot of it looks quite flat.I would love to go there sometime so can anyone tell me if it's hilly going up to the hotels and to the bars and how bad it would be for somebody on a mobility scooter.
Thanks
Much of the older part of Albufeira is basically in an old river valley, a canyon almost, surrounded by hills and with a hill just above the beach where the castle once stood. Over the years the town has expanded outwards into the surrounding hills whiich is where the many tourist resorts and hotels are situated. Some are well over a mile from the sea.
What's the steepest climb the mobility scooters can manage? I have to walk up a 1 in 10 hill for half a mile to get home from the town and all the exit routes from the old town centre won't be much different.
The old town centre is now basically a pedestrians only zone, so you won't have many problems there.
I did see someone on a mobility scooter last week down in the old town.
The pavements are very narrow and rough in some areas of town, so are the streets for that matter.
A lot will I think depend on where you may be thinking of staying. There are some fairly decent hotels right down in the flat bit of the old town eg Baltum, California and Turial Park
Come back if you need any more information.
Thanks cobsur, it sounds like a no no for me, might try Vilamoura, I know thats flat .
Yes Vilamoura is flat for the most part. Good luck.
Monte Gordo might be worth looking at too Serena.
