Hi,

I went to santa Ponsa Last year with the family.. got to say - one of the nicest resorts going.
there are plenty of bars there so don't worry about that!!
i have only been there once so wouldnt know much about the other hotels.
perhaps someone else could help on that score?
but when i went i absolutely loved it.
the beach is nice,
the area is nice too..
and.. there is a McDonalds there too, its just off the beach!!

hope this has helped..
enjoy!!

Been to Santa Ponsa 4 times, and really enjoyed it, both as a couple and with our 2 kids. There are different "areas" within the resort, each with plenty going on. Lots of Irish bars in one part, and then The Square-on the edge of the resort - which is basically just that- a square, with loads of different bars all around it and entertainment happening in the middle - stuff like acrobats and tribute bands etc.

Perfect sea views don't get much better than the Punta Del Mar hotel, right on the edge of the resort, about 5 mins walk to the Square and a bit further to the Irish part/beach. I think every room has a seaview- it is perched right by the bay with fabulous views. I think you can also go there on a self catering basis and some of the rooms are apartments. There are several other options near by- Jardin Del Sol Suites are lovely-beside the Punta Del Mar.

The beach is lovely- the resort is as busy or quiet as you want it to be- plenty for everyone and my kids loved it.

Fantastic resort - I've been there4 times as well. We stayed in private apartments so can't recommend hotels. However the 2 that have been mentioned are in superb positions. Going on your criteria, it sounds like the perfect resort for you.

I couldn't have put it better myself. There is also an excellent bus service to other parts of the island if you fancy a change.

Hi Helen - I have stayed at the Punta Del Mar twice and would highly recommend, and the Holiday Park apartments up the hill from the Irish bars - very basic but it was a really cheap extra holiday and it suited us fine. That was in October though, and I believe it is noisy with young groups in the summer, so I wouldn't recommend for a family in high season.

I have also stayed in a hotel opposite the beach and down a side road - it was grim at the time, but last time I was there I noticed it had been completey changed/renamed and was now lovely!

There are a few different apartment complexes out at the edge of the resort close to Punta Del Mar end, but I guess it depends whether or not the OP wants to be right in the heart of things/beside the beach or a little further from the main action.

The Santa Ponsa Scene magazine is usually really useful for info on the resort - can be downloaded from the net.

As Helen says, it's really easy to get about and see other resorts an the island if you want to.

Our 1st holiday in Santa Ponsa was in the Holiday Park & we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there.

We visited Santa Ponsa last year while staying in Magaluf and wished we had chosen this resort instead. We visited friends who were staying at Hotel Jardin del Mar which had beautiful sea views. Would agree this resort has everything for a good family holiday and with easy reach of Palma, Palma Nova and Magaluf.

You could try looking at google earth to find hotels with good beach locations :gluck

We've just got back from the Hotel Punta del Mar in Santa Ponsa. Can't recommend the hotel highly enough - beautiful views, good food and friendly staff and a brilliant location for the town and square.

Although Santa Ponsa was quiet at this time of year, there certainly appears to be alot of pubs, karaoke etc.

The resort quietens down from the middle of October, livens up again at Xmas & the New Year, and then quietens down again until around the week before Easter.
