to be honest, shops are full of copies and general tat really. I hated the whole shopping experience cause the shopperkeepers wont leave you to look and decide in peace. I would have bought more if i was left alone. Fakes are good though, especially the handbags, the only problem is nothing is priced in some shops and i think they make up the price dependent on how much money they think you have, in other words, dress in rags and you may get a better deal or take an egyptian with you, alot less hassle. I will be avoiding the shops like the plague when i go back in December.

I absolutely love haggling, so much so, the men remembered me from last year  The mall is quite a good place to start your bartering skills, they are small and less intimidating. You must bargain hard because sometimes the super markets have the same stuff and its priced less.

Jewellery shops are heaven, no hard sell at all in any of them, just normal like home.

We have drinks with the locals in their shops and have no problems.

I love the experience, and at the end of the day, that is what you go to a country like this for.

Enjoy :D

personally, i go for the sun and sea, i can shop all i want to back home! My hubby hates the shopping experience there, it took us half hour just to walk down one street that could have taken 5 minutes, we were hassled to the point that my hubby was ready to headbutt the next person who asked "where you from?" we ended up telling them Aberystwyth just to confuse them, they always have a brother who lives in Cardiff, Swansea, whatever. We will speak in Welsh next time so they wont have a clue (hopefully) someone reading this will now start a Welsh class in Egypt...if you like that sort of thing then fine, if you dont, like me, stay away, we dont all want to spend our hols locked in shops drinking gross tea buying tat you would look for at a boot sale back home here. Depends what your taste is really.
