the driving is easy, i wouldnt say there would ne a lot for your sons to do, as its a very quite island, the beach at Troulos is one of the better ones, we thought the others were overated, i spent a lot more there last year than Santorini this year even with a poore rate this year

We stayed in Troulos 3 years ago and had a lovely holiday.

is it a family friendly island -Yes, family friendly in a low-key way (no water parks, amusement arcades etc)
what is troulos like is there enough for 2 boys 13 10 to do - It depends what you're looking for...if you like a quiet resort, with a nice beach and your kids like swimming and want space and freedom to play, it's great. If you're looking for 'entertainment' then maybe not!
what is the weather like at the end of august - not sure!
what is it like to drive a car over there - not sure, but bus service is cheap and regular
is the island expensive - it compares well to other Greek islands

If you rent a car, best deals are made direct and before you get here and not from the tour operators.
Do not hire quad bikes, as you will not have adequate personal insurance in the event of an accident.

Here here! When i was on Skiathos last September (for my 5th visit) We spent a lot of time walking on these other roads. They were almost deserted.............and the views were absolutely stunning!

we've been coming to Skiathos for years and still not tired of it!

About 3 years ago we changed accom and stayed just outside of town and have never looked back. There are so many lovely places to explore when you have a car/jeep.

All the other roads leading off the 'main road' will always take you somewhere stunning. Drive up over the hills and look back down on Skiathos - its stunning. Discover other beaches where you can only get to with a car as the bus only goes down the main road.

Stop in some lovely bars up in the hills and have a beer overlooking the town of Skiathos. So many different beaches to go to 2 weeks isn't enough.

Then there is the boat trips from town taking you to neighbouring islands of Alonniss and Skopolos, viewing the dolphins on the way, or a boat trip round the island is nice.

If your boys like the sea and just generally playing they will love it. Some beaches have watersports, which you can choose these beaches as you feel, especially if you hire a car, and driving is easy.

Weather should be warm and sunny, but like anywhere could get a shower.

Evenings spent sitting in taverenas chatting might not be to your sons taste, but come into town a few nights (dont have to drive if you dont want to, the bus is good to get on and goes back late at night) much more lively and things to look at as well as the lovely harbour.

As you can guess I love Skiathos - I'm sure you would love it but it is your choice.

Hiya, went to skiathos about 3 years ago.Skiathos Town is a must at night as there are some lovely restaurants and bars there.The people there cant do enough for you to make your holiday work.Have a lovely holiday and enjoy.
