Turkey is perfectly safe for you and your family. Nappies and formula milk is available in all of the supermarkets. Although it is probably better to bring the formula milk which your baby is used to. The Turks are very family orientated and your baby will be treated like a prince or princess.

Bottled water is safe.

Just be aware that it can be very hot in June and you will need to take the obvious sun and heat precautions.

As for the place to go it rather depends on what type of holiday you are looking for.

Enjoy your holiday.

If you wish to get a real taste of Turkey steer away from the big resorts ie Bodrum, Marmaris - a nice choice would be Akyaka, which is very unspoilt in beautiful scenery or maybe Kas or Kalkan. There's also Dalyan which is quite close to the airport and very beautiful. Of course our favourite would be Turunc, which is a small friendly village and there are many small family orientated hotels.
Turkey is great to take babies, our children and grandchildren have been as babies. You will be the centre of attention, and the waiters will fall over themselves to cater for your baby! When our grand-daughter was 8 months, our daughter had sometimes fed her before they had their own meals, so she would just ask for a banana or something similiar. They'd always oblige. Most restaurants will have high-chairs, but a good tip is to take a baby seat from here, that you fix to the table, for the ones where there isn't one available.
If you wanted a package look at Anatolian Sky - we went with them a few years ago, may not be the cheapest but they were brilliant.

I agree Turunc is great but an aweful long transfer in the heat and over the mountain, after a 4 hour flight with a baby.

Akyaka, Kas, Kalkan also beautiful but the same applies.

Dalyan would be ideal as you are only 25 mins from resort, its flat, great for buggy and beautiful.
As already said the Turkish people love children so you will be given priority where ever you go.

Stay away from big resorts,

Thanks for all the helpful advice. Dalyan might be a great option because of the short transfer. Can anyone recommend a hotel in Dalyan?

i would vote for akyaka ,lovely place and the sea is shallow and calm. its about 50 mins from dalaman airport so not too bad. prices are good in restaurants as its not commercialised. good luck with where ever you decide to go

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Olu Deniz. That might also suit. Busier than Akyaka & Dalyan, but not as busy as Marmaris etc. Turkey is very family friendly.

Although I went AI, there are a lot of small B&B hotels in Olu which seem to be available at reasonable prices and the main road is full of bars and restaurants. The Karbel seems very popular and is mid-sized for a B&B hotel (I think, not sure how many rooms is considered mid-sized ?). Good luck with wherever you decide.

As well as b&b, why don't you look at S/c? With a baby it is helpful to have a kitchenette and also to have 2 rooms for when baby is asleep. How about the resort of Bitez, via Bodrum? Lots about it on this forum. We stayed at the Sirca Apartments through First Choice. We liked it and they get good reviews.

My husband was very cross with me when I first booked Turkey 5 years ago - Spain or Florida was where we knew!! Now he loves Turkey and wouldn't go back to Spain. He is now cross because we have 2 children getting married this year and a holiday is not on the cards for us this year.

You will love it. The Turks are the most lovely and kind people. They will try and "coax" you out of your last lira/pound/euro but will do it with apple tea , politeness and a smile.

Their culture is very different from ours and their attitude to children and babies is scary at first because we are used to viewing anyone (particularly men) taking an interest in children as suspicious. But, they genuinly adore children - family and young ones are very important to them.

Your choice of resort depends on your paricular likes -quiet, mixed or lively. Turkey has it all. We like to go to different places. Olu Deniz is small and mixed with the beautiful Blue Lagoon. Gumbet is larger and a bit livlier. Ephesus is historic. Where ever you go you will enjoy yourselves but it does get very hot.

Have a lovely holiday.

For Self Catering I would recommend Babadan Apartments in Icmeler or for B & B then The Nur Hotel in Kalkan both are excellently located for access to their respective resorts and both have English lady owners.

I would reccommend the st nicholas park in hisonaru. We were B&b but also has a small kitchen which was there if you needed it, a free bus to beach with it's own restaurant on beach, granted it was 5 yrs since we were there but i'd highly reccommend it , hope this helps x

kalkan could be hard work with a small one as it is very hilly getting around with baby, buggy and all the stuff you have to carry! And it's a long transfer ...

Hi, I lived in Turkey when my daughter was a baby, it is perfectly safe and I found everything I needed there. I lived near Bodrum and there a re some lovely places near there which would be ideal. I would particularly recommend Bitez as it is all flat, no hills or huge pavements like other places and everything is based along the beach so you don't have to worry about traffic. It is only about 40 minutes transfer from the airport too. We went to Turunc once, which was lovely but it was a horrible journey over mountains that made my older daughter feel sick.

Eating out is no problem with a baby as they are very accomodating, they will make something up for your baby and even amuse them while you eat in peace. The Turks love babies, your little one will get so much attention !

I would also say that self catering is better than b&b as you get a kitchenette with a fridge plus a bit more space.

Wherever you decide have a great time and if you need any advise on baby stuff just let me know.

The Turks love children ,especially with chips :D (joke). No seriously they do ,my grandson is only three and he has been to turkey four times ,it is perfectly safe for kids ,just watch the sun as it can be really fierce sometimes ,make sure you take plenty of high factor sun block with you ,it is really dear there for quality brands ,they have cheap stuff but you can never be sure if it is fake as a lot of stuff in turkey is copied. Dont get worried if young men stop you and want to talk to your kids ,they will take pictures from there wallets and show you there children ,make a fuss of them and go on there way . Antalya region is good as it is central with a lot of places of interest close at hand ,lots of good trips to be had if you dont want to be on the beach all day ,enjoy, you wont regret it. :tup
