Firstly Hello,My name is Cheryl.
Myself and my husband..43 and 53 have booked for Marmaris on 25th september 2008,we dont mind a bit of noise and like a good laugh ,but was wondering will we look out of place, like is Marmaris really for 18-30 or is it mixed all goes,..and are there parts where the older folk hang out,I have been told there is a bar called Flares a 70`s bar this would be really good, does any one know where it is.
We are staying at the Rosy apartments.Does anyone know of any bars that our age go to,we dont really want clubbing would feel out of place, but a good karaoke bar or a bar with cheesy music,60`s-70`s -80`s music.
Getting excited now as never been to turkey first time for us,we ussually go to malta but fancied a change and somewhere a bit more lively.
Thanks , any advise welcome Cheryl x

Good lady and I have been going to Marmaris for the last ten years or so. I'm a year older than your husband and always have a great time. To say Marmaris is for the 18 - 30 brigade is way off the mark. It caters for all ages and you won't regret going there.

Oldies? 43 and 53? Give yourself a break! I'm in-between those two ages and wouldn't even consider thinking of myself as an oldie! Perhaps more of a re-cycled teenager!!
I think you'll love it Cheryl and hope you do.

Was going to say the same as Yorkshire Boy - I'm in my early 40s and hubby will be 50 in October (while we're in Icmeler - yay!) and there's no way I'd describe either of us as "oldies". Age is just a number and Turkey has something for everyone!

Turkey is for all ages. Also it seems like most resorts cater for all ages. Olu Deniz definately does. I suppose some resorts attract more 18-30ties than others, but I dont think there is a Kavos or Falaraki type resort, although there may be hotels in Turkey that are in the 18 to 30 brochures so you might want to try and avoid those particular types of hotels as there could be a lot of slamming of doors at 4 and 5 am.

My OH and I are both 59 this year. Have been to Turkey for two or three weeks each year for the past five years. We love it. We went to Malta at Christmas and enjoyed it, but we would not hurry back. Holidays in Turkey can be what you want to make them. Chill out by the pool or on the beach all day followed by a good night in a bar, or days on trips to historical archaeological sights, or places of natural beauty or interest. We love boat trips and jeep safaris - both are excellent value for money. There are areas to enjoy a stroll. Organised trips through tour operators or diy ones on dolmus or coaches. Food can be English type or fantastic Turkish dishes.
Enjoy your hols

Good for you Cheryl. I have to say when I read the title of your post I thought you were going to say you were 80
You are nowhere near old. My parents are in their 70s and they love Turkey, they are coming away with us in two weeks time. I have seen plenty of older people enjoying themselves in Turkey, and I don't mean people in their 40s and 50s, I mean in their 70s or older. It doesn't matter, you can have a good time at any age.

Hi Cheryl so glad we have all managed to change your outlook. and boy do I feel like a teenager again on the jeep safari with my super-soaker and about 6 litre bottles of freezing cold water that's left in the hotel's fridge the night before!!! I've done 4 now and still think it's the best day out of the holiday.

I'll second that - why should the kids have all the fun

It makes me feel younger when I go to turkey. I am 56 and hubby the same but they treat us like young lovers.

                hi cheryl,
you can never be too old for marmaris, i,m 57 hubby 58, we go to marmaris two or three times a year, and although we have been to many places, nothing compares to marmaris.
you say you are staying at the rosy, stayed there some years ago, it's very nice. just round the corner from the rosy is a lovely cafe bar called the little chef, this does really good food, and the people who own it are the best you could ever wish to meet, not far from the rosy is the george and dragon pub, we had some good fun here.
just across the road from the george and dragon is donatella travel, you must go on there boat trip on the mega diana, ( look at the mega diana thread) the best day out , we usually go two or three times per holiday.
faulty friends restaurant is a really good place to eat, it's on the beachfront , in front of the sun gezgin hotel.
i am sure you will love marmaris as much as we do, i,m going on the 15th september, then again in october, can't keep away.
have fun
