we have just come back from the best place on earth..... cuba
we stayed at the maritim costa verde and it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in the food was excellent and the drinks even better the people are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble, i wasn't expecting it to be so good because it is such a poor country but it was fantastic the food is of a very high standard, i want to go back now!!! and iv'e only been home 23 hours.

Hi Malcolm, did you have much of a problem with the sea being rough while you were there?
Not sure what coast the Maritim is on but it was pretty rough in Guardelavaca for a few days before we came home last month!

We too found paradise at the Playa pesquero. Although I didnt go much on the beach and yes the sea was a bit rough for a while the hotel was first class. Looking for another holiday in november but nothing else compares.

Obviously not been to The Maldives yet then.....

Been to Cuba and The Maldives - and personally I would pay the little bit extra and go to The Maldives anyday.

always fancied the maldives but the islands seem really small and and think if there is some obnoxious person there you are lumbered with them

Try Sun Island (one of the largest islands in the Maldives)

The Island is approx 1.6 km in length and around 380 meters in width - Will take you just over an hour to walk the full perimeter of the island at a steady pace.

This is a 5 star plus resort and you will be treated like royalty - Paradise doesn't come much closer than this, and trust me you don't get any obnoxious people there.
