Hi Everyone
i have been to Turkey loads of times. Mostly Alanya/Antalya area but been to Marmaris too. Heading to Gumbet this year to the Jamine Beach and wondered if anyone could fill me in on the Hotel in General and some info on Bodrum/Gumbet area.
I have had a good look at Hotel Reviews on this site and on Trip adviser and as we only wanted to SC it seemed one of the better complexes to stay at but if anyone has any feedback from a recent trip thats would be ace.
Any pointers on decent Turkish bath near Hotel?
Anyone know where i will get Celtic v Rangers Game on Sunday?Heard there is a bar called Calypso nearby run by a Scottish Couple so maybe there?
How far is too Bodrum? and is there a bus stop outiside hotel or better with Taxi?
Do you need to pay for loungers at beach outside hotel?
any other little tips or ideas on how to make life easier round the hotel would be greatly appreciated!
I know Siesta Beach nearby has a Turkish bath but I don't know what it is like.
Bdrum is about 15 minutes away by dolmus and they stop right outside the hotel and run every 5 - 10 minutes all day and night so you wont need to get a taxi.
You don't pay for beds on the beach.
Sorry, I can't help with watching the game but I'm sure it will be on somewhere.
If you want to know anything else please feel free to ask as I used to live in Gumbet.
Kedi
Thanks for your help. i wasnt sure how far it was exactly from the Hotel into Bodrum itself but if its around 15 mins on bus then i suppose it must be a little too far to walk if i wanted to go in via foot.I will probably try both Gumbet and Bodrum for a change off scenery and try some of the restraunts in both places. I have been ready some reviews and iv managed to sound out a few places to try for evening dinner which are the following?
Gumbet - Saray Zetas , Windy Bay, Denizhan, Cap Columbia
Bodrum - Marina Yacht, Secret Garden
I really like Turkish food aswell so it doesnt always really need to be the usual steaks and chicken etc. We are both quite keen on trying new stuff aswell. Are there any other Turkish eatieries that you can recommend? Even if it for snacks or smaller places that do a great kebabs or faster food.
Hotel has Turkish bath i see but not sure if it will be any good or not. I guess it will probably be ok.
Seray Zetas is my favourite restaurant, they do really lovely Turkish food, another favourite for Turkish food is 01 Adana, it is on the way out of Gumbet towards Bodrum. Cafe Columbia does good Pide and that is fairly close to the Jasmine. We usually stick to Turkish food when we go on holiday, my husband is Turkish and he is usually disappointed when we go anywhere else. I have heard that Secret graden is very good but haven't actually been, another nice restaurant in Bodrum is Yag Hane, along by the marina.
The most popular place for a Tukrish bath is at Hotel Bronze, it is at the other end of Gumbet and lots of people recommend it. The only time I went for a Turkish bath was at Isis hotel, that is a bit further out still and I really enjoyed it there.
When are you going? We are going back next monday and staying at Siesta Beach, which is just along from Jasmine.
Stayed there twice. The hotel was okay. I always found the bar prices among the most expensive in the whole resort so I never gave them my custom. I would recommend the Millenium Restaurant. Food was always excellent with no gimmicks like a free drink or free garlic bread etc. The staff were always very friendly and would try and cook anything you fancied if you could'nt see it on the menu
Kedi - Glad you said the same about Saray Zetas that will be my first stop i think once i arrive. I heard of the 01 Adana place too so will defo give that a try once day.Might even try the walk from Gumbet to Bodrum and get a kebab on the way back (Burn the calories back off haha)
Im going to be there around the same time as yourself! We arrive on Saturday night so really looking forward to it as Its rained in Scotland for the last month!
As you walk out of the Jasmin beach the 1st bar on your right will be screening the game, They also serve the best Breakfast in Gumbet also, The owner is a Scotsman.
i guess the bar you mentioned would be the Calypso that i was previously told was owned by Scottish people. I just wasnt sure if it would have the Old Firm game or not. Fingers crosssed!
Ps - Full Scottish is different from a Full English lol
cheers again
S
Yes thats the one, Owner comes from fife.

Had a good breakfast in Calypso, but Im sure I read a couple of months ago that it had gone, the hotel it was in front of was extending!.
They will have the game on in the Radio Bar (almost opposite the Greenhouse Apartments) - and in the bars next door they'll be cheeering for Rangers!! They're friends of ours and we've had an influence on them!!
