Indian airline switches Heathrow terminals

Jet Airways has moved to Heathrow Terminal 4 from Terminal 3.

The airline's check-in counters are now located in Zone C, with desks 1-6 in operation for the morning departure and desks 1-11 in use for evening flights.

The move is part of a multi-million pound investment by BAA at Terminal 4.

The departures concourse has been newly refurbished and now offers a larger check-in area, with high ceilings and brighter lighting, making it easier and quicker for passengers to check in.

Jet Airways' Première (business) and first class passengers have access to Etihad's newly opened lounge for 120 passengers in Terminal 4, located opposite gate 10.

The Indian airline's new check-in area was officially opened by Raja Segran, senior vice president, Europe.

"We are delighted to be able to offer passengers an even more comfortable journey from the moment they arrive at the terminal," he said.

"Jet Airways strives to achieve the highest standards and our move to Terminal 4 reflects our ongoing efforts to surpass the expectations of our passengers."

On board the first flight from Terminal 4 was airline chairman Naresh Goyal.

We booked flights with Jet last March from Mumbai to Goa on 17th Nov. returning on 15th Dec. So far there's been four flt time changes, we now leave Mumbai 55 min. later and the return is 1hr 20min later making our transit on to an Emirates flight a bit tight, to rub salt in the wound our Jet flight is now a Jet Lite flight. I could have booked with them last March and saved some money, but falsley thought we'd be less likely to get messed around by Jet, big mistake. Needless to say no refund for being bumped down, onto Jet Lite, and a take it or leave it attitude Alan

tush,

They use a Boeing 777-300/ER. You'll find aircraft details on their website.

Hi Darren

I have been trying to upgrade from economy to premier they (our travel agent) want £100 each for me and oh for change of booking + about £365 each to upgrade.
I have spoken to Jet Air they can't upgrade us direct we have to go through our agent, is that the norm? and isn't £100 each something of a rip off just to change seating?
Your comments please

tush,

That's the norm I'm afraid because your contract is with the travel agent and not the airline. It is a bit of a rip-off, especially since the change of booking is an upgrade so you'll be paying them more money and probably at a mark-up as well, but if that's their policy, you have little option.

Hi Darren,

Yes you are right about the rip-off, just had a quote this morning they want £1800 each for the upgrade.
We have been advised to try at check-in they say they just may have special offers on if there are any empty seats.
Worth a try.

I'm looking at flights to Hong Kong with jet....this is the flight plan:
09:30 LHR London Heathrow Jet Airways 9W119
23:05 BOM Mumbai 9h 05
Overnight stay required 2h
(+1) 01:05 BOM Mumbai Jet Airways 9W76
09:25 HKG Hong Kong International 5h 50

This is my question......It says I would arrive in Mumbai and have 2 hours to catch a different plane ( same airline )
Will this mean that I'm an in-transit passenger and will not have to go through immigration and also will not need a visa when I arrive in India ? I am correct that my checked in luggage will be sent straight through to my next plane without me having to see it ?
Is 2 hours enough time for a transfer like this ? How far will I have to go to get the next flight ? will it be in another terminal ?
Are there any formalities I will have to go through ? What is the meaning of the (+1) in front of the 01:05 BOM Mumbai ?
thanks for any answers you can give me.

hovis,

That's correct, you'll be a transit passenger so won't require a visa as you won't strictly speaking be entering the country. You're luggage will be checked through from LHR to your final destination. The +1 simply means it's the day after when you arrive at your destination. I can't comment on the terminals, but transitting isn't anything dificult.

Has anyone missed a connecting flight when all flights are on the same ticket? We have booked to go from Manchester to Goa via Brussels and Mumbai with Jet Airways (through ebookers)

The flight from Manchester to Brussels is a Jet flight number but operated by Brussels Airways and there is only 1 hour between arriving at Brussels and the flight to Mumbai, ebookers tell me that the airlines determine the transfer time needed so they must think it is ok. What I would like to know is are they responsible if we miss the connecting flight? and be liable for hotels and rearranging flights
Reply
silentman,

If you miss a connecting flight and it's the fault of the airline, ie the flight is late inbound, it's up to the airline to sort you out with an alternative. If it's your fault, ie you don't leave enough time between flights, don't go straight to the boarding gate etc, then it's not up to them. 1 hour is quite tight for connections, it's usual to allow >90 minutes. However if the airline have said it's a viable connection, then any problems and it's their responcibility. You'll just have to make sure you go to the next boarding gate immediately after disembarking the inbound flight as the connecting flight will likely already be boarding by the time you get there.

Thanks Darren for your reply, it appears straightforward looking at Brussels airport web site, gate B arrival thro security to gate B departure, only problem is flight from Manchester not always on time, however good to know it will be Jet Airways responsibilty.

Hi

Flying with Jet from LHR 8th April 21.25 - arrive mumbai 1100 depart 1305 - arrive BKK 1855
Return 23rd April 20.55 - arrive mumbai 23.40 depart 0145 - arrive LHR 0645 (24th)

As both flights are with Jet I am hoping / assuming my luggage is checked straight through and I just get off and go to next departure gate ? This looks like a good amount of time to allow for very minor delays, leg stretching etc

Any reviews / comments on Jet (hopefully positive) ?

Is it worth pre booking seats ? I havent so far. I am travelling alone and would prefer an isle seat, thankfully I have never been put by a window when I have travelled alone.

Thanks
