Jet2 said it is awaiting an explanation from aviation officials in France as to why one of its passenger aircraft was shadowed by a French fighter plane.

Flight LS1204 was returning from Malaga to Birmingham on Friday when it was tracked by the military jet for up to 15 minutes.

One passenger, Sarah Hatfield, from Dudley, said: "It was so close I could read the writing on its tail fin.
