Just back from a week spent in C'an Pickafort spent in a self catering apartment, here are my observations -
The beach is very long and made up of soft sand, gently sloping, meaning the water takes forever to get any deeper than your waist, great for kids, but not so great for adult swimmers, however, the water seems pretty clean, but watch out for the rocks at the marina end of the beach, stubbed a few toes on these.
At this time of year - August - the beach is heaving, so get up early if you want a good spot, or go late, after 3 pm, when many have left the beach.
The price of sunloungers and umbrellas is extortionate, with one sunlounger and umbrella being 8.50 euros for one day, so being a family of 5 we bought lilos, beach mats, and beach umbrellas from the many shops selling such things along the beachfront, and left them behind in our self catering flat for the use of the next residents, otherwise we would have been seriously out of pocket.
Booked resorthoppa through travelrepublic to get to our flat, much cheaper than a private transfer, just 69 euros return for all of us, but the trip is long and laborious, with the coach stopping at several hotels along the way, we didn't mind the length of the journey but it is tedious.
Ca'n Pickafort is a family resort, without many loud nightspots, but it is a short journey into nearby Alcudia for those who want to party.
The weather was hot, with a couple of overcast mornings, but it can be very windy which makes keeping your beach umbrellas up a nightmare, also don't be fooled into thinking that the stiff breezes will prevent you from getting sunburnt, we saw a good few casulaties whilst away so keep putting on the sun lotion.
Plenty of supermarkets if you are going self-catering, but the prices of food are not cheap, pretty much on a par with smaller supermarkets in the UK, rather than the likes of ASDA or TESCO, though if you have a car there are Lidl supermarkets a little further afield where food is probably cheaper.
All in all we enjoyed our stay in Majorca, and would definitely go again, for there is so much we didn't get to see this time round.
Glad you enjoyed your holiday we love can pic hopefully return soon
We went to C'an Picafort last year and it wasn't my favourite resort; one man's meat another man's poison?
Personally I prefer Italy to Spain but we had never been to Majorca and the flights were temptingly cheap so we decided to give it a go, and to be honest the beach, and walks to be had along the beach were second to none.
For seven days, two of which were taken up with travelling, we thought that it was pretty good for the money, simply as a beach resort.
Also, I think it is a good destination for families with small children who just want a safe beach and a family orientated resort.
So not my fav, but not bad.
