We had a great welcome from the Manager (Jusuf is his name after our deliberations before going lol). Everyone remembered us and a few even remembered our names which was nice. Jesus the restaurant manager really looked after us while we were there. He called our names out to get our food first on both BBQ nights so we could eat first and always gave us bigger ice-creams and extra vodka in our fishbowls
The hotel was still lovely and clean with the staff working really hard day and night cleaning and tidying. The BBQ nights were a must, great food and entertainment.
The first week there was a bit of as problem with people putting towels down by the pool. It got to the point where we had to set our alarms to go and put towels down. We would have much prefered if it was a first come first served basis as we were always first down by the pool at 8.45am. One mornig I went to put towels out at 6.30am and there was no space by the kids pool. We were the first down there at 8.30am. By 1pm there were still 6 unused towels by the kids pool. I mentioned it to Jusuf and half an hour later they were removed
It was a great satisfaction.... there wasn't a problem the next week.There was a scumbag family there for one of our weeks, they were letting their son get his w.... out and pee in the pool, shouting and laughing 'He's p***ing in the pool' and f'ing and blinding. They were puting cooking oil on their kids!!!
and genurally casing trouble and arguing like crazy. It was a lot nicer when they went!The weather was a bit hit and miss. When it was sunny it was red hot about 40 degrees, which is plenty hot for us blondies, not sure I could cope with 50+. The pool was very refreshing and not too cold. We did have about 3 or 4 days of cloud where is was still warm but not sunbathing weather. We went for walks and shopping on these days. It was a bit disappointing as we had better weather in October last year but it definately didn't spoil our hols. The evening were still warm, 23 every night on the point centre temp thingie. one night was a little cooler where my son wore a long sleeved shirt, no need for cardis though. The thunderstorm onnight was crazy. Lightening every 5 seconds and the thunder was so loud. We sat under brolleys still outside as it wasn't cold just wet! The lights went out for an hour or so but it was the middle of the night so we didn't really notice.
Marmaris has gone up, but not that much. The first time we went to Turkey we were getting nearlly 3 lira to the pound so with it being 2.38 that's were the differnce was. Efes was 2.5-5 lira, cocktails about 9 lira, local spirits 6-8 lira, soft drinks 3-4 lira. An evening in The Garden with meals for Me, hubby, 5yr old and a baby with a few drinks was 100 lira (inc tip). The food was devine there, still my fave place to eat in marmaris. They brought us extra Turkish flat bread with extra Tzakziki (mamas special sauce as they all it!). Everything we ate here was gorgeous, my faves being chicken hotpan, chicken casserole and chicken shish kebabs. My hubby loved the leg of lamb which was great value (about 25lira i think) but you got loads of meat, really tender with chips, rice, salad & veg.
We went to Picadilly bar on the first night and that was the last time we went there. We found the prices had gone up sky high and the portions had gone down by half. Lasagne (19 lira) used to come in a huge bowl with loads of sides but it as just a small amount on a plate... more like a kids portion. Reg as as pushy as ever saying 'see you in the morning for breakfast' as we left. The kids play area at the back is good tho, shame the food wasn't as good as before. We also missed Paris the top waiter, he has gone to england with a laaaaaady!
We tried Adam and Eves and I'm sorry we didn't like it. We waited an hour to get out food which is too long when you have kids. Russ ordered beef curry and it was all gristle. I had a lasagne and left it all it was bone dry like it had been sat there for days. They made their son dance on the bar and he really didn't want to do it... they dragged hm up there and it felt a bit like they were circusing him out, it put me off a bit.
We also tried the two dragons chinese, sorry again lol but we thought it was all just greasy yak food. Most of the dishes you were pushed to find any meat in, they had been well picked over and just the veggies were left.
We ate at Tasty Bites takeaway a couple of nights to save money and omg it as lush. My husband loves the lamb wraps and you could get a huge one for 10lira there. They were really good with the kids there too giving them balloons and lots of fuss. I can highly recommend their chicken shish wraps and jacket potaoes yummy.
We didn't find the shop keepers too pushy at all or the resaurants. Along the beachfront was the most pushy we found it saying 'lovely family come and eat here' and 'special food for jordan' etcbut when we were with ourTurkish friend Osamn we didn't get hassled once lol.
Mega Diana boat trip was still my fave day of the holiday. We went on it twice and it was excellent both times. We missed Ali on the boat tho, he has bought into the business so spends half of his time in the office. Claire (the english girl) his replacement isn't as good as ali but the other lads were still great fun. We met people that we were on the boa with last year which was lovely. I would have liked to have gone on the boat again but we didn't get the time. W had to stay in the evening we had been on the boat as we had too many brandys!
Fantastic days!We had a few drinks in Mad Hatters, local spirits were 10 lira BOGOF and they weren't shy with the measures. Spencer loved dancing with the breakdancers! We didn't eat in there though.
We got the taxi boat to icmeler which is still 7.5 lira and a great day out. We got hassled more in Icmeler than marmaris!! I was very quiet tho and we wondered how they afforded to stay open.
We got my son kitted out with clothes. The prices varied a lot compared to the qualty. You coud get 4 lacoste polo shirts or a tenner but the better ones were 2 for a tenner. You could get round neck kids tshirts 10 for a tenner! Little lacoste shirts 3 for a tenner and the best kids jeans were £10, you could get cheaper like 3 fo £18 but they weren't made aswell. did think that a lot of the fakes have gone downhill. The best shops were still opposite taj mahal and on the same road as taj majal just round the corner.
Oooops I think I am writing my 10,000 word dislitation!!! Sorry for the waffle! We had a fab fab time and can't wait to go back next year!
