As promised a report on my hols at the pliska GS. Yet another excellent 2 weeks staying at the pliska, the hotel was very clean and tidy and the staff looking after very well, ensuring my glass was not empty for long Ha!. Had a good days shopping in varna spending loads of money. The new shopping mall is open and found it to be very expensive I will definetly not be going there next year. Visited our bulgarian friends parents in the hills just outside of the resort and found how the other half lives. It was amazing how self sufficient they are, had a table full of of food fit for a king all out of papas garden including one of his chickens and the home made rakia WoW!. Sunday and monday very wet days and nights but the thunder and lightning show was fantastic lighting up the whole bay.
I found the prices still very cheap the meals working out at approx 7-10 pounds and plenty of it. Angels down by the shipka was our most used restaraunt Ivan the owner made us welcome every time we went in and it was not just for business he really was a nice guy. I will be booking for 2010 in a couple of weeks time at the pliska again and the price is only £340 per person plus the balkan discount of 5%. GS is has changed as a lot of the old places gone especially in party street but the resort still holds a magic to me. Anyone who has not been to GS I suggest you give it a try you will pleasantly supprised.
NB June I went to see the new slavey not bad but Elia the taxi driver said it is now full of romanians not to his liking as the brits,russians,germans are no longer there, and the romanians bring there own cars.
