Well another great holiday.
We usually go in August, so found resort quiet but there was still plenty of atmosphere. Flights were great - on time on boths journeys. Came back through new airport but it took so long to get throug check in and passport control, that we only had time for quick look in duty free before we were called to departure gate. As stated by others, didn't appear to be any seats downstairs to sit on whilst waiting. But it obviously isn't finished, so maybe there will be some more seating in time. However, what we did see was a definite improvement.
We stayed at the Travellers Rest Apartments and have no complaints, good basic apartments, fantastic pool, great staff and good food in restaurant (fish and chips to die for! even though I usually make a point of not eating english food when I'm on holiday!)
Our top three restaurants were the Moonlight (No.1 for last 2 years in our opinion), the Chef and the Lemon Tree. The Lemon Tree is new, next to Geordie bar - food was excellent and a little different from usual. Instead of chips, mash and rice, got spicy couscous and pototoes cooked in butter sauce plus veg. On next occasion got roast potatoes and rice with sultanas and nuts and veg. Had Roast suckling pig - very good.
Our daughter's boyfriend was taken ill at the mud baths on 2nd week. Turkish people could not have been kinder, arranged taxi for us and got us to the town to meet taxi. Doctor also very good. He had infection in inner ears which affects balance etc. Has since been signed off work for 2 weeks on return to home - he fits sky and aerials, so can't do this or drive. He may have got infection when scuba diving, but could have got it anywhere. One word of warning though, he took tablets to his own GP and she said that one of the tablets that had been prescribed to him were banned because people have died from them, they cause strokes!!!
Paid our usual annual trip to Firuze and now the delighted owner of a beautiful diamond solitaire and a bracelet. I must start saving again for next year's visit
As usual, met some lovely people, Hi to Denise, Gail and Eve. Hope Mehmet's wife has given birth to their baby boy by now.
Went on obligatory boat trip - great. Our daughter could not go on a fishing trip they had booked because of her boyfriend's illness, so gave tickets to a couple at apartments. They went and had great time, but were told if they wanted to keep the fish they had caught they had to pay for them!!!! First time I've heard of this.
Finally, won't go on anymore - it's gone on too long already, but quick word on prices. Pretty much the same as last year, but did see some prices rise 2nd week we were there. Shops seemed cheaper and market prices no different. However, we got great exchange rate, was 3.08 on a couple of days, so a really cheap holiday this year.
Will be going back again next year, hopefully in September, to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversay, which is at the end of August.
Only 3 weeks till we are back in Icmeler - can't wait !.
Interesting about the Lemon Tree - we will definately look out for that one.
Nice to hear from you.

lovely review, hope your daughters boyfriend is getting better.
We are off to the old village in 4 weeks, Sun apartments. I fancy a trip to Akanya (sp) for a day after reading some of the reports on here. This year we are going to do more eating in but will get to my favorite bars over the 2 weeks. I want to take in the old village alot more this time and a nice walk to Turunc (sp) via the back roads sounds a must also walking to Marmaris along the beach sounds good...
Bring it on...
Great report, cannot wait to go now.
Will email you.
Glad you all had a good time at T.Rest.
miss you guys this year.
ive had 2 inner ear infections recently both before i went to turkey last oct and year before, its a difficult one as drs didnt know where i got it from or how long it would take to clear, they said up to 2 mths approx , the first one cleared in 2 mths but the one last oct took 4 mths to clear, it was a right pain so dont worry if it takes ages, i thought the worst and i that it was more serious etc as lasted so long, the tabs i got didnt work that well, so i hope he gets over it quicker than i did as its very unpleasant having dizzy spells, head buzzing ,feeling sick etc
Nice report Linda, glad you had a good time, except for the ear trouble.

Forgot to say in earlier post that our favourite bar was Dream Three Bells. You have to go an see Tom going up the tree with a tray of cocktails on his head and then jumping off the tree and not spilling anything!! A great bunch of lads.
Hi H/T. Can someone tell me which one is the Dream 3 Bells? I think its the one across from the Lion Bar but i mat be wrong, am I? Bye Anna xxxx Also, Linda are you referring to Gail at the Amalia? Most prob wrong on that one tooooooooo.
The Dream Three Bells is opposite the Lion Bar, so you're right on that one. But Gail is not at the Amalia - wrong on that one Gail was another guest at the apartments where we stayed.
Linda
Thank You Lottie. We use the 3 Bells when we go to Icmeler but we also use the Amalia across from the Blue Rainbow. Gail is in partnership there and the chefs wife was expecting a baby so i thought it may have been them. Thank you for your reply. I shall find out myself, 7 weeks today when we return so i shall send them your regards. Bye Anna xxxxxxxxx
I would say to go to jasmin motel staight up from there cjust after dream boys for a proper english breakfast for a£1 . i went to several and went back ere at the last .
say hi to mehmet for me hes a saint !
also theres so much to go through but every1 has differ taste in things to eat and see / see for your self you will love it !!!!!!!
The lemon tree sounds good, where is it exactly is it off the beaten track?
The Lemon Tree is next to the Geordie Bar just round the corner from Avlu 4 apartments. If you stand with your back to the top of the canal, cross the main road and keeping walking down. The Lemon Tree is about half way down on the right hand side. It is run by 4 brothers and they have really done a good job with the restaurant - I hope they do well. One of the other guests where we stayed ate there and had vegetable lasagne and she said it was the best she had ever tasted.
Hope you find it and enjoy your meal
Linda
