Hi everone, just got back late Monday night and this is the first chance I have had to post. Well this was our first time in Goa and we had a fantastic time. We stayed at the Horizon Hotel and couldnt fault it any way. Thanks to Papa on here I got the email address and emailed the hotel asking for the room above reception which someone kindly told us about on this forum. When we arrived we were given the exact room. It was big and spacious. There was a lounge area with tv chair and a three quarter like bed, big windows overlooking the pool area. Then there was a kitchen, with full size fridge freezer, table and chairs, kettle, coffee milk etc. Our bedroom with balcony off, and bathroom with shower. It was really nice. The hotel staff were brilliant.
We went the Carvery for the meet last Wednesday and met Chilly, her husband, Roma and loads others. We were a bit apprehensive at first, but Chilly made us really welcome. We had a great time there, thanks Chilly. Also I have to mention Roma, he told us about a restaurant called Souymens Kitchen, I promised I would leave a note on how it went. Well it was one of the best meals we had in Goa. The staff were the most attentive we have come across. The Chef even came out at the end of our meal to ask us if everything was okay, to which it obviously was. Food was excellent.
We ate at the Oriental at the Mira twice, again that was brilliant, food fantastic.
We went on a local bus to Mapsa one day to the local market. That was an experience I can tell you. I ended up on the floor off the bus!! It was scary but so glad we did it.
We went into a lcoal bar at the market and that also was an experience, we were the only white people about, and the locals were asking loads of questions, which we answered and had a banter with them. My friend's husband had been there the day before and found another local bar away out of the road, and he took us there, it was like a small room, it was called Busbys I think. They made us so welcome. The owner even opened up a 10 year old bottle like a malt whisky but with a huge chilly inside. My husband and his friend, thought they were in heaven they said it was so good. I also tried the Feni and actually quite liked it!!Thanks again everyone for the loads of tips that you gave us. Can't wait for next year now!

Souymens Kitchen is without doubt one of the best restaurants in North Goa. We always go and usually more than once. We've had a few free brandys from Chef Souymen for recommending all our Goa friends to go there and eat he also commented on our little blue HT wristbands and thanked us for passing on kind words about his eatery.
he is llovely at soumeyns, what a gentleman!!
