Malta is not big, but bigger than your queries infer - what areas are you looking at - eg what bit of waterfront
Sorry Gozomark - meant Waterfront hotel .I think we want to be Sliema/St. Julian's as we want to take in a bit of Malta's History. Thanks
I think we want to be Sliema/St. Julian's as we want to take in a bit of Malta's History. - there isn't alot of Malta's history in that area - what sort of things did you have in mind ?

Oh I don't know Mark, I am sure a lot of history has been made in the Paceville / St. Julians area
I'm sure there's been the odd conquest
OH interested in world war 2 so thought this was a good base ???????????? Maybe Kiltman-graham has other ideas.
The St Julian's / Paceville area is where the islands main disco's and clubs are to be found, and as such is possibly not what you are looking for
Sliema would be a good base to start looking for accommodation, with easy bus access to all parts of the island and ferries across to Valletta.
This is one of many good websites giving information

Again I will get my plug in for the Malta Aviation Museum, if your OH is interested in WW2 a visit here is a must.

Think we'll give paceville a miss rest of info good - thanks
If your OH is interested in WW2, he might like to visit the Gun Post cafe, at the top end of Marsamxett Street, with all its photos & miltaria in the tiny inside part. It has some great views out over Marsamxett Harbour towards Sliema as well.
If OAP is ever in the Buggiba/Qawra area and fancies a pint then pop into the George pub on Tourist street. They have some wonderful action photos from WWII hung on their walls.
