Also is there a lot to do in kamari, such as bars and clubs etc. it is the first time i will have been abroad with my boyfriend and im so excited. Just got to get through my exams then i'll be looking forward to it even more!
I would be grateful for any advice
Thanks
Amy
Hi Amym! First of all good luck with your exams. You'll enjoy yourself even more if you know you've done your best. A group of six of us including my daughter & her boyfriend are off to Kamari on the 3rd August,s taying at the Estia Studios. (anyone stayed here) We'll be back before you go so keep watching and I'll report on the resort.
oh that would be great! Thanks for the luck, feel i may need it hehe. Hav a great hol, amy
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Fomithea a few years ago (travelled with Kosmar if I remember correctly). We had a great time. The Fomithea is in a good location - a short walk to the front where most restaurants and bars are, and there is a useful supermarket very close by. We had a great room overlooking the pool (above the bar, but it was nice and quiet still). Try and get this block of rooms if you can. Take the walk up the 'mountain' to see some ruins (can't remember the name) - you'll see, from the apartments, people going up there.
Pool is nice, but we weren't too keen on the beach. Make sure you catch the bus into Thira and maybe visit the volcano. There are ample restaurants and some nice bars for the evenings in Kamari, and the whole place had a nice, cosmopolitan feel. I'm sure you'll have a fab time! Sorry my memory isn't very good, I need to get my photo album out!

Good Luck with your exams
I went to Santorini last year (23rd Aug - 6th Sept) and stayed at Kafouros Studios in Kamari. Weather was really lovely and we had such a great holiday.
Kamari is a great resort, mainly lots of restaurants with a few bars. A visit to Fira is a must, lots of nice bars and lovely shops. Watching the sunset from Fira or Oia is a great experience. The bus service in Santorini is fantastic so it is easy to visit other places on the island. Kamari to Fira was 1euro each way.
There are a number of trips to go on, we booked with Kosmar to go on the sunset cruise but wasnt that impressed. We would have rather booked a restaurant in Fira or Oia to watch the sunset from there.
I wish I had booked up to visit Santorini this year but instead we are trying Cyprus. Have a great holiday
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask

Hi Lea 28! We're staying B & B at the Estia Studios in Kamari. I don't know if you've been to any of the other Greek Islands but I was just wondering how prices of food and drinks compare. We don't do any cooking - eat out every night, enjoy a few lagers and a couple of glasses of wine. Since booking I've heard that Santorini is expensive. Can you shed some light on this for me. Thanks -Helen
I haven't been to any other Greek Islands to compare but I personally didn't find it too expensive. I would say it's a little bit more than Spain if that helps.
Overall we spent £800 in two weeks but that is including money for trips and a few gifts. We were SC and ate out everynight.
Have a great holiday

Thanks for the info. We like to really enjoy our holiday and hate having to count the pennies. Last year we were surprised by the prices in Cyprus and for the first time ever hadn't taken enough money. Thank goodness for cashpoint cards.
I also hate counting the pennies too but on £800 me and my bf had a fantastic holiday We are off to Cyprus this year and have been told prices are similar to UK prices
Hi Lea28 ! We went to Protaras last year and found it quite expensive. It was the only holiday that we've had where we actually ran out of money and had to use the cashpoint. Don't know how but managed to spend over £1000 and we were half board. I've spoken to others who've said the same thing, but seen some posts on this site from people who actually live there, saying it's not expensive. My advice would be to take your card with you just in case.
Hi Helen, we have booked to go all inclusive so will only really need money for days or nights out of the hotel. Will make sure I take my card with me just incase!
Which hotel are you staying at. ?We had a good look round last year as Protaras is a place we would definitely return to in a few years.
We are staying at Anastasia Beach Hotel in Pernera (nr Protaras). Last time I went was 10 years ago so can't wait.. 20 more weeks to go though!
Saw it when we were there, it looked lovely. 83 days and counting to Kamari.
We have been to lots of Greek islands and the mainland and didn't find Santorini any more expensive than anywhere else unless you were in Thira.
Thanks hurdler. Since the demise of the drachma and the introduction of the Euro we've found that most of the Greek Islands have become more expensive. As long as its not extortionate we'll manage. Thanks
We have been going to Greece for several years and can honestly say that we never noticed the big increase in prices that most people say they saw when the euro was introduced. When the currency was changed we bought quite a few things that had the old price labels in drachma and the new euro prices and when I converted them they were the same. Also the everyday things that we bought were no dearer when converted than they had been. Each to their own opinion but that is what we found.
Hi Amy, stayed at the Fomithea 2 years ago, we enjoyed it although our room was christened the bunker as it was down a few steps from the pool and the only light was from the patio doors...we were hoping for a room overlooking the pool as they looked far better, so try for those if you can! We also went with Kosmar....we didn't think Santorini was more expensive than other any other Greek island we've been to, but there are cash machines out there too just in case! Recommend getting round the island to Oia and Fira... hope you enjoy it!
