Hi
We're going on one of the mini-cruises offered by Louis Cruises in August from Limassol. (We live in Cyprus).
We've had our eye on this particular island for a couple of years but the timing for the mini-cruises have never been right until now! We get around 4hrs on Kastelorizo and we gather there isn't that much there and the island has only a population of around 450 people.
Has anyone been here on a cruise port of call in the past and has any recommendations? Other than that, we think it's a stroll round, a trek up the hillside for a photo stop and maybe a swim in the sea....
Next stop for us is Rhodes, which we've always loved and are looking forward to a return visit. We arrive early evening and will spend the night and until late afternoon the next day moored by the old town.
Friends who are coming with us have never been so we think we may pootle off to Lindos but would also like to drop by Kalithea too. I don't recall the distance or how long this is likely to take so if anyone has any info to share or transport contacts, it would be much appreciated. We like to do our own "thing" when we are on holiday rather than taking shore excursions....
Forgot to say, we're going on the MS Calypso. I have looked at reviews but there's nothing up to date (anywhere) and I know it's previously a Thomson ship and is fairly small, previously a ferry (as are most of the cheap and cheerful ships that are used by Thomson/TUI/First Choice), none of which bothers us as we've been on the Ausonia and the Island Escape (in my past life) However, any recent trips and comments with regards to inside cabins on the Boat deck (forward cabins) would be helpful...
Many thanks

It looks spectacular - I will post photos after I've been. Not long now - only a couple of months Meanwhile, you will have to make do with these

It's just 2 miles off Kas in Turkey and apparently, does have an airport.... That'll be for the Focker 50 I expect.

We went on the Calypso 3 years running when Thomson chartered it (different itineraries, but still did 3 trips through the Corinth canal!) Just loved that little ship, the staff were wonderful, and the tiered decks lovely for sitting out in sun/ shade or half and half. It went to unusual places the big ships didn't go, including a stop at Limnos.
Have a great time,

We went on the Calypso mini cruise to Egypt and from what I remember it was a nice enough ship for a short break.
I contacted Louis Cruises to see if it was possible to have a look around and at the cabins we've been allocated. One of our group is prone to claustrophobia and on the last cruise we went on (again with Louis Cruises but different ship) they booked an outside cabin which was very small in comparison to our superior inside cabin.
We've gone for the Boat Deck (cabins 402 and 406) as these look like the biggest in the category we've booked. Hopefully these will be okay but it does mean if there are any problems we should be aware of, it gives them chance to decide whether to upgrade or not.

I can't remember which type of cabin we had, but there were 3 of us and it didn't feel cramped. Mind you, you hardly spend any time in the cabin.
I think the cabins vary quite a lot on this ship, if you can look around that will be great- the main cruise lines don't usually allow that.
