I stumbled across this forum last week when scouring the internet for information on Candolim, I hope this post is ok and "allowed"
I can honestly say I've never seen such a well put together and moderated discussion forum, it's a font of knowledge and information and the regulars on here are so willing to pass on their experiences, it's wonderful and a refreshing change.
As a result of posting a message I know what rooms to ask for in my hotel, I have a long list of places to eat at, a list of reputable jewellers, how to handle beggars, traders and taxi drivers, where I can buy any essentials and what local brands are best, not to go out of my depth in the sea because of the undercurrents and even what type of aftersun to use (Avon!), plus a whole load more info!
I'm sure because everyone is so enthusiastic about Goa it must be a really special place and that we'll have a holiday to remember like most of you guys have.
Keep up the good work and any titbit of information, no matter how small, is always relevant to someone!
Jules
What a nice post, just thought I'd let you know we are looking forward to your holiday report when you get back!!!!
regards
Arl
Just remember though, on your first day, or maybe into the second, you will be thinking to yourself, oh my goodness, what are those people talking about ...... trust me, you will soon become totally hooked, as we all are. Enjoy, you will just love it !!
what a lovely post! I have to agree with you re our members. They are great- friendly and always willing to help with advice. They make the forum what it is today( the best Goa forum on the web- not that I'm biased or anything )
I second all of the above.............this is the best forum, just been over on Trip Advisor and found another argument going on..........it's really annoying that 1st timers to Goa looking for information and help have to trawl through people fighting.............stick to whats BEST i say, oh and WELCOME JULES - nice to have you on board.
If only TA site had a Fiona
That arguement would have been deleted well before I sent him to Siberia he he (On aeroflot I might add)
I'd just like to second (and third and fourth) everything that has been said. Have been browsing this site for a couple of months now and you can't beat the information that has been shared here. It's not just factual ~ you can feel everyones enthusiasm ~ it's brilliant. If I've been unable to find the answers on my own, people have been really keen to help. The result..... flights are booked for two weeks in Candolim on 19th Nov. from Gatwick with First Choice and enough leg room for tall hubby.. had the jabs today.. just got to pick up the Woodland Fresh and Mozzie Tabs and we are away... unless I've forgotten anything?? Oh yes.. this is MUCH better than TA.
This site is a wealth of info for first timers. Fiona puts a lot of hard work into this forum, along with other destination forums as well as her full time job. Thumbs up to her.
And also to the regulars who keep us up to date with everything.
Thanks again
Nicola
And my I say GL Siberia seemed like a good place to send him
I think he's taken Ginlizzy's advice ~~ the thread has disappeared. Hope Goanluv joins this forum, she is very knowledgeable and her tips and advice are always spot on.
He/she made a statement, another poster posted a fairly dismissive and cheeky response and 'name removed' took the bait. Then it just escalated.
The other poster was then noticeable by their absence. Don't think anybody can't take much credit for that epsisode.
I believe the term is "sawing the wood and putting the sawdust in someone else's pocket"
And no, I'm not *name removed*
name edited out
fiona.
Thankfully these 'feeding frenzies' don't go on round here.
Keep up the good work right enough.
GW
The person who gave *name removed* the cheeky response uses many alias names on TA (same spelling mistakes etc) Every now and again they log on just to create a wind up. *name removed* fell for it and then became quite obnoxious to everyone. Never mind, hes taken a flight to Siberia on Aeroflot I think
Keep up the good work everyone
GL
Edited out name
Fiona
Look- I have enough problems as it is without sorting out TA's problems as well!
I agree with Geedubya - the guy posted an honest statement, nothing nasty, nothing sinister just a statement. The guy that Lizzy is talking about is called * names removed* etc, etc............I don't respond to any of his direct postings any more, he seriously is a nasty piece of work!!!.......just glad he isn't on here!!!
You should read some of the advise hes giving out on the TA site (Total garbage) I cand believe people take him seriously. I think his latest name is *name removed*
Never mind it takes all sorts I suppose
GL
for these also contributed something, by developing before us the powers of thought. " -----
