Just to confim Kos Aqua Beach not being opened until 24 May (I have been cancelled from there), so their Aqua Beach Club opening this year seems to be a bit pants!
Good luck to those on this board that may have been cancelled.

ive recieved an e mail at 2.oopm on 2nd may 2006 from first choice regarding the opening of the above hotel. they say the kefalonia beach club hotel will be open on the13 june 2006.however people traveling from the 13 june-2nd july have an option of amending there booking without any administration charge if it is causing them concern.also it says that the kos hotel will be ready to recieve guests on the 24 may 2006.weather this infomation is true remainds to be seen i just thought i should share this infomation

Hello all, has anyone else received their tickets yet, what happened to all the pages on this forum?

If you look at the discussion for Kos ABC (part 2), about page 9, people going to Kos ABC before July 1st have been cancelled, and apparently Kefalonia has been pulled for whole season.

We are going to Kefalonia Sunday 14th May staying in Lixouri as we always do will try and find more about this hotel and will make a post as soon as we arrive back 28th May, we've been going to Kefalonia always staying in Lixouri since 1989 somethimes 2 or 3 times a year so have made many Greek friends and they can't shine any light on any progress about this hotel, personnally have stopped doing any booking with FC, as have been let downs by them on so many occasions, one of our friends who worked for them for several years has left to go elsewhere as she was fed up with complaints and enquiries about this holtel and other things.
Really hope I will be able to help after my holiday because as previously stated there is no other all inclusive hotel in Lixouri May decide to put you in the Cephalinia Palace which is very good do full board but a long way out of the town.

Tonight on a holiday program can't remember the name sore a shot of the Aqua Beach Complex in Kos which is no where near being completed and the workmen on site said it was not the Aqua Beach and also in Kefalonia they reckon this site will be nowhere near finished this year one couple have transferred to Turkey really think FC have let a lot of you down so thing again before booking with them this Aqua beach thing has been going on far too long and has been very unfair to a lot of people as it's not been up front for all your requests who have booked I do hope you get a decent holiday as with most people it's a one off a year which is looked forward with young children of school age really has to be looked into

i watched that programme tonight and im sure it said the Kos one would be open 5th July and the Kef one won't be open this summer?

Yes the current information is:

Kefalonia - Cancelled for all dates in 2006, First Choice shops have apparently been telling customers that this is due to subsidence.

Kos - Opening date now moved back to 1st July 2006, all bookings prior to this are cancelled.

recieved a phone call today from a very apologetic thomson rep, telling us about the closure and have to say Iam disgusted. If they knew the hotel was not going to eb ready on time they should have informed customers earlier, were wre booked for early july and it's now mid may, so finding space at another location will be a nightmare, and will cause real problems with jobs and school. feel the way that FC have dealt with the situation but feel like we have an omen as far as holidays are concerened, a couple of years ago we were involved in the Alcudia Pins catastrohpe, saw the hotel sprawled on GMTV one morning, ended up going for personal reasons and had the worst holiday ever.
Am now considering Florida or Mexico as most european destitations are fully booked. will definetly be complaning to FC asap and expecting some form of compensation for the trouble this is going to cause.

as everyone knows by now, the kefa aqua beach club will now not be opening in 2006.
we were booked in for two weeks from the 13th august.
we booked online, but were cotacted last week by our local high street branch.
the web boys and girls were overrun and could not handle the load.
the local girl explained that she would now be dealing with our travel requirements.
she helped us find some alternative destinations and there were surprisingly a lot of places available all over the world.
we had a budget of the full cost of the kefa holiday plus £450 that first choice were adding.
we have chosen a holiday in corfu at a 4 star hotel, travelling only 1 day later than our original departure date.
the actual cost was considerably more than we had paid for the kefa hol, but what the heck, we were prepared to pay the extra minus the £450 offered.
as it turned out there was no extra to pay at all as f.c absorbed all the extra costs.

it has also been said that each of our party will recieve £30 in compensation.

i for one was well pleased with the outcome of this situation and have no qualms with travelling with first choice, now or in the future.

i would like through these pages to express my thanks, both to my local shop staff and the customer services of first choice for a first rate and considerate service.

i hope all other forum members experience the same service as i have.

Just returned from a two week stay in Kefalonia met some Dutch people who had been booked into the Aqua Beach had been offered their money back or to stay in the Cefalonia Palace which they accepted and said it was an excellent hotel and were enjoying their holiday very much,
Work at the Aqua Beach is in progress, Kefalonia has suffered a reasonally bad winter so lets hope all who have booked the Aqua Beach get settled with another holiday or compensation and manage to holiday somewhere have a lovely holiday, which we just done with good weather maybe a little cooler in the evenings, no rain. and very pleasant local people. great food as always. wish you all well
