Most school children go back around 3/4/5 September . prices usually gradually start heading downwards 2 weeks before this but dont think you would get much of a bargain before they go back.

will depend on were you are leaving from . in scotland, schools go back around the 20th august and you will start to see the prices coming down from then for scottish departures

this sept the schools in my area return earlier than normal and go back around 1st-2nd sept

Here too as well Karen. 1st September. Never known it that early, bet that's caught a few people out. There will probably be a lot of empty classrooms the first couple of days, if folk have just assumed it's the same as normal.

I hadnt found the date when ours went back but in that case assume it will be the same for mine next year . They do finish earlier than normal , mine the 17th JUly so I suppose it would follow that they return earlier .

I guess for folk like us who go away at the begining Lyn it's not such an issue, but for some who like to incorporate the late summer bank holiday into their hols to save a days leave it might make a difference.

yep its caught me out i booked with aegean flights back in june 07 for aug 08 and returning sept 4th oops when i booked it over a year before i thought i was safe coming back on 4th but luckily ellies school is fine about taking her out of school, but my friend is coming with us with her 3 boys and their schools are stricter so not sure how she will get round that as the older one goes to secondary school too

Both my daughters go back September 4th.. but we come back from cyprus september 3rd about 8:30ish we land, just going to see how that night goes and they feel like getting up in the morning if not maybe the first day back off, we have always had our holidays the first two weeks of september. but in 2006 we had to have them in 6 weeks hols because my youngest was starting juniors and my eldest was starting secondary , and every since we have been going in august

You're probably looking at the end of the 1st week in September. I don't know why but holidays have not been coordinated this year in the UK. We were lucky to find a really cheap break over Easter, but then discovered that Eater holidays in Wales were a week earlier than elsewhere.

I think in the London area most schools go back around the 1st/2nd September. Easter was ridiculous this year, many people with children attending school in different areas saw their children having holidays at different times. I work for an Inner London Borough (just comes under this) and we have only just gone back this Monday but the London Borough I live in (Outer) had children back in school last week. Most schools around London break up around the 22nd July this year it may be a day or two later or earlier. Hope this helps.
