Kos is not such a big island...in fact it doesn't take much more than 3/4 hour to drive from one end to the other!! I would estimate you could drive from Tingaki to Kefalos in about 20 to 30 minutes. I love kefalos and have been on holiday there 6 or 7 times. I think you will find it has been tidied up quite a lot and small holdings that used to be full of chickens near to captain Johns restaurant has been tarmacked over to make an enormous car park!! Not that I've ever seen many cars parked in it! There are quite a few new restaurants if you walk down past the Argo restaurant along the seafront. There is also a very large new restaurant if you walk along the road leading to the harbour on the right hand side near to Maria's. Apart from that life seems to go on pretty much as always without a great deal of change. If you go up to kefalos village, there are a lot of new bars up there and quite a few places near the restaurants on the square have closed down. Who knows they may have been spruced up and re-opened by now!!

They built the big car park as they were going to shut the harbour road to traffic....but they never did

I'm also thinking of going to Tingaki, end of July and into August for a fortnight.
Was wondering what ppl thought of the place and any recommendations eg. places to visit, bit of culture and history, restaurants and tavernas, car hire, markets etc.
