anyone stayed or know what they are like?
I booked as my boyfriend and his family are staying there and i booked 2 weeks ago. I have a son with autism so its not going to be too busy for him. busy resorts be too much for him. But still want to show him places, animals etc. things to look around and not having to sit down to watch shows. My daughter who is 7 is not the main worry as there are going to be kids her own age to play with and she is a bit more independant. We not been aborad for a few years. Thought it be nice me and the 2 kids. going 26th feb 2008 for a week. self catering too. any nice places to eat out???
thanks
Hi I am sure you will love it here. My mum goes for a month every year at this time. Its not as busy as other areas of Tenerife so will suit your son.A good cake shop is the bamboo cake shop, and for eating out of an evening my mum would recommend Mirandas. I m not sure what this is like for children though, sorry. I will quiz my mum and let you know what else she would recommend.Have a look at this webcam of the area too
:-)
Have been to Los Gigantes seven time in last couple of years and it is a lovely, quiet place. But there are plenty of bars and restaurants with reasonable prices. The Bamboo Bar, up from the Los Gigantes Hotel, has a happy hour (?) from 3 pm to 8 pm when a pint of Dorada is only 2 euros and other drinks are half price.
Try to go to Loro Parque (North of island, Puerto de la Cruz) which is huge with lots of different animals and the kids will love it. 30 euros for adults and 20 for children seems expensive, but you'll be there for five hours and still not see everything! Take your camera and some sandwiches. The whales and dolphins trip is right on your doorstep from Los Gigantes harbour. Use Direct Excursions (just up from the Bamboo Bar) - ther are a lot cheaper than Thomsons etc.
No yobbos or lager louts and everything (music -wise) shuts down at midnight by order of the Mayor.
I'm sure you'll have a great time.

or if you think your son would not enjoy a big ship, then try the Katrin which is a smaller boat.
