We are hoping to go to Vegas in September, our friends are booked to go already and booked through a travel agent, we were going to go with them but we wanted to DIY so our friends now think we hav changed our minds and are not going. We are going but we are not going to tell them, the plan is to surprise them when we get there. They are staying at the New York New York hotel so we of course want to stay there as well. They are going for 13 nights and we intend to go for 10 from 17 September. The cheapest we can go for so far is £1547 for the two of us, the flight from Airline Network being £349 each and the hotel from roomsnet.com for a Park Avenue room £849. Does this price sound about right for Vegas, our friends have paid in the region of £2,200 by booking at the Travel Agents.
Thanks
Polly
I'm in Vegas from the 17th to the 29th September
Your price is not bad to be honest. £350 for a flight is good, I went last September and we ended up paying well over £400 (non-direct) and I searched for ages trying to find a good deal.
The rooms not bad either - it's about £100 more to book directly through the hotel, the advantage of doing that, is that you can cancel up to a couple of days before you go, so if they start advertising a better deal (which they probably will) you can cancel and then rebook on the cheaper deal.
I would definitely book the flights now and maybe take a bit of a chance on the room and wait a while. Normally if you book the room through a third party, you won't be able to change it even if you see a better deal.
An alternative could be the Monte Carlo next door, it's slightly cheaper than the NYNY, or an even beter deal would be the Flamingo - great pool areas and quite a bit cheaper, but obviously a bit of a walk from the NYNY!
It's pretty much the general rule for Vegas that flights get dearer the later you leave it, and rooms get cheaper.
I would suggest that you book your flights, as the price is reasonable. Flights do go up nearer the time, have you checked American Airlines via Dallas.
Do not panic about booking the hotel, keep your eye on FAT WALLET for any offer codes this can save you lots of money. As for the Monte Carlo, it may be cheaper but its next door to the largest building site on the strip, with noise 24 hours per days.
You could book with New York, New York direct, they only take the first night rate, and you can cancel up to four days before you travel if you find a better deal.

Thanks for the help, we have been on the Fat Wallet site, where do you find the hotel offer codes on the site ?
Thank you

Checked the offers at present on Fat Wallet, and MGM & the LUXOR, both have offers for your dates in September, working out slightly cheaper than NYNY. Perhaps consider booking NYNY, and then if you find a better deal nearer the time you can then cancel, or consider MGM which is only a walk over the bridge to NYNY.
So much choice, the most important thing is to book your flights, then be patient for the hotel prices to fall.

Thank you for all your help we are going to book our flights hopefully tomorrow and then leave the hotel until a bit later and will keep an eye on the fat wallet site (the link worked by the way )
Keep me posted, I like a good deal. We have just returned from Las Vegas total cost of our holiday was £630.00, for 7 nights at Ceasers Palace, which included a room upgrade, and direct flights with Virgin. This was only obtained with many months of patience.

We are booked flights with Delta, one stopover in Atlanta, £764 for the two of us willbook the hotel later.
Great that you now have your flights booked, now be patient the deals will come! I was reading about Travelzoo (US), may be worth a look for hotel rooms.
We are now in the process of confirming how many of our party want to return to Las Vegas next April, so I will be watching the flight prices to.

Pebbles,
Hi Pebbles
We overlap by a day lesley. We go back to the UK on 6th June.
Hi Pebbles - be sure to leave the good weather behind in Vegas for us! And don't empty the shops either!
We leave for the airport in 6 hours lesley. I'll try my best with both the weather AND the shops, but I can't promise anything.
I left plenty in the shops for both of you as we didn't buy much even though we did manage to fill an extra holdall. Hubby got a really nice designer suit at the Forum Shops reduced from $1000 to $295. All I got was a French Connection top and umbrella and a pair of Crocs. Oh and a 1/2 CWT diamond ring with my birthday money.
