Well, my time has come to hit the big 4-0.
We usually go to Goa every year, but, I want to try Las Vegas again (first time 2000) to celebrate my 40th birthday in March 2009). The last time we went we did it in 3 flights over 20 hours and the journey put us off.
This time I have a set criteria and i'm looking for your help to help me plan our perfect holiday - here goes;
- direct flights to LV from either Manchester, Stanstead, Glasgow or Gatwick
- decent hotel on the strip ie 4 star - (ny- ny, luxor etc)
- 7 nights in Vegas
needs to be a reasonable price, any tips on upgrades etc would be appreciated .
can you give me links etc to where you book your hols to Vegas.
kind regards
Paul
ps - i can give you loads of tips about Goa if needed!
Tooooo much info to repeat. Read the "Vegas in January" topic just under this one for some information and the Search facility is invaluable.

Check out the Airtours Florida & LasVegas brouchure, looks like you can get a direct flight to LV from Manchester in March 2009, we used them last June, Glasgow direct to LV & would recommend, we stayed at the Excalibur & it was fine, the Luxor & various other hotels are available. We want to go in August or September this year from Glasgow, Airtours only go from Glasgow June & July so looks like we will have to go via Philadelphia (least stops).
As for flights, you have suggested a few airports you are prepared to fly from to get a direct flight at a reasonable price. I don't know where you live but i live in Scotland and would have preferred a direct from here but was unable to find one. However i did find what i considered to be a pretty good close alternative that you may want to consider especially if its Scotland you stay.
Its with Delta airlines flying from Edinburgh with only one stop at New York (Unfortunately its a 4 hour wait both times but at least you have plenty time in case the first flight was delayed). I booked 2 flights using this route for £428 each, i know the 4 hour wait is not ideal but considering i could not get a direct from Scotland anyway and was still saving over £100 each flight for a direct from England (i would still have had to fork out to get myself to Mancester or where ever anyway) then i thing i have a crackin deal.
If you are interested don't be put off if you see the flights are now £527, as i had been keeping an eye on these specific flights for a couple weeks and their prices do seem to fluctuate quite considerably. Before i was lucky and got them at £428, they were changing daily, £446,£527,£456 then £428 when i pounced.
Only other times I've already been in the US. Infuture I'd take an east coast change
as most of the gap is taken up with immegration anyway and it would be nice to have a stretch.
Immegration was slow in vegas.
You should have a great time however you get there, whereever you stay
