You might get a good deal with flights to Las Vegas from Manchester with Thomas Cook (formerly My Travel). These are direct flights. I would monitor their website for a few weeks to see what prices are like at the moment.

Not sure about other airlines booking late as we always book early, but they are usually much dearer in August that when we go in May and November.

Exactly Luci...we always usually book early, know exactly where we want to go etc...

But, as you say, Flights are so expensive in August but we have no choice but to go away in School Hols....

I would like to go to Florida again this year, but I am not really fussed as long as we get away somewhere ...but we just can't spend all that money on flights as we have other commitments this year !!

Oh well what will be will be...I will just keep my eye open and hope

We did this in August '06 but were only able to get a 1 week deal for which we paid about £1500 for 4 people to Orlando. We did really want 2 weeks but it seemed at the time that all the 2 week hols were booked up, no doubt due to school holidays. Unfortunately, I'm tied to school holidays so this year we've booked in advance. I do seem to recall they're were 2 weeks available to Las Vegas at that time of year though.

I think you're much more likely to get a Florida deal than Vegas to be honest. I go to Vegas every year and have really noticed how flight prices really only seem to go up most of the time!
You should be able to get something though.

I think you will get late deals to both. I lived out on the West coast for a year just to make a suggestion if you have kids Vegas may not be the place to spend two weeks. However you could road trip (which are good fun in the states as the roads are so quiet) quite easily to LA, San Francisco and San Diego from Vegas.

May not be something that you would want to do but just a suggestion.

Waterford, the last time I went to Vegas was in August and it was hot !!!!...

Dunnersc, my boys are 14 and 16 so it was just a thought that they may like all the sights of the Casino's and all that...I haven't really thought too much about it...think we would go almost anywhere if the price was right (within reason - lol)....as you can probably see we DO like America and would go back to Florida every year if could...

I am going to have to just keep my eyes peeled I suppose and not end up too dissapointed if we don't get anything!!!
