Has anyone been???
We're going to Crete with friends next year and are bribing their 11 year old by promising a visit at the end of the holiday - providing he behaves through Loutro, Paleohora and Hania retail therapy!!!
We went there last year. It was really good, have a look at http://www.limnoupolis.gr/
It's in a lovely setting in the mountains. We've done all the Florida water parks and liked this one very much. It's not verly large but there's enough there, we stayed the whole day (10 a.m. till 6.00 p.m. when we were there - end of May).
The restaurants/snack food were good too, we had club sandwiches, chips and a drink for about 7 euros.
A tip for drinks would be to get them from the shop by the changing rooms, they are very cheap there (cans of Coke, etc) compared to the pool bar (about 50c compared to 2.50 euros)!
I'd certainly go back to it, we went as part of an excursion and paid about 30 euros each, but I noticed the little land train which runs along the coast road (Malame, Gerrani, Platanias, Aghia Marina etc) only charged 15 euros including admission
Thanks - I'm sure you've made a certain person very happy!
I don't want my 2 young daughters getting burnt from being exposed to the sun all day in the water
I always use the UV Protection Swimwear tops (like a T Shirt or zip up) for my 10 year old made from swimsuit material so it's comfortable and fast drying. I've used them for years and even in the Florida weather in the water parks she's never burnt.
I've just got a new one, it's Factor 50, cost £15.00 and arrived the next day. Excellent service, I even rang and had the poor guy opening packets and measing chest sizes! http://www.beachfactory.com
Just a wee bit of advice!!!
limnopolus is great. just returned from chania trip, and we took our 18 mnth old to the water park. he enjoyed himself, as did we. an 11 yearold would spend all day very happily.
THe boys (2 40+ one 11) had a great time, as did we ladies (the lazy river was SOOOOOOOOOOOO relaxing).
Beautifully landscaped and very chilled, nice how there are sunbed areas tucked away, so you can be relatively peaceful.
We got a taxi out from Hania and back (10 euros each way), because it was a Bank Holiday Sunday and the was only a bus at 10.30!
If you like your rides faster, we noticed that at 3pm most tourists had disappeared and mainly Cretans remained....less lifeguards and more water through the rides making them much faster! Obviously you need to weight the safety aspects.
I'm off to the Louis Creta Princess next week and was already planning to visit this waterpark but not through the holiday company. Do you have to book to go to the waterpark on the little road train ? I was thinking of getting a taxi from/to the hotel or getting the shuttle bus to Chania and a taxi from there.
Don't know about the little train, but looking at the map you're probably better getting a taxi direct from the hotel and booking a return one, rather than hiking into Chania and out again.
