Great news in press.
Liverpool have recieved £20m in EU grants towards improving the cruise terminal from port of call to full turnaround port. This includes Customs + Excise/baggage handling etc.
Roll on cruises starting from Liverpool (this is from Pier Head not Langton Dock).
Cruisers dont all live in South, thats why Thomsons do well with passengers from North/Scotland + Ireland its easier to fly to embarkation ports than get to Southampton.
Just hope some of Cruise Lines move some ships to Liverpool.
PS. I declare an interest as i only live 25 mins from Liverpool Pier Head.

johnny c..do you know how far the terminal is from lime st station please...regards..j.d...p.s. we are using it from april 29th (fred olsen) and is there a courtsey bus from station..
All buses to Pier Head pass Lime Street, don't know about courtesy buses.
If i go into Liverpool on train + was going to river i walk it (15min)
If new terminal is ready its 5-6mins in taxi.
As you are going next April i assume you will be going from Langton Dock as there is no facilities as yet to embark at Cruise Terminal (no Customs + Excise) its only for visiting ships.
If thats the case its 4.5 miles down the Dock road + a 25 min taxi journey.
