the reports of drownings have usually been people who cant swim or who have been drinking or both so dont let me put you off , you can use atms all over , let your bank know before you go that you will be using your card in goa because they sometimes cancel them its happened to a few friends of mine
happy holls
Hi John Woody, Thanks for your reply. I was reading elsewhere on the forum that you have to have a legit Goa address for the Visa, so wondered if it might be worth booking a couple of nights in advance somewhere whilst we searched for something cheaper, any recommendations would be most welcome. We're not fussy about accommodation, we've lived in other places in the World...cockroaches, at al. so please feel free to recommend cheap, I guess my wife would prefer en-suite these days though. Also recommendations for cheap flights would be welcomed. Thanks for your advice about sea swimming, it will be heeded. I guess we're basically looking for somewhere warm and cheap to get away from our Winter. Thanks again and look forward to hearing from you.
For flights have a look at http://www.travelsupermarket.com/c/cheap-flights/ just put in your dates and airport codes LHR = London GOI = Goa and you get a list of the cheapest agents and airlines, Jet and Kingfisher are highly recommend. You can also get an insurance quote for long term travel insurance but also remember your house insurance will not like your home been left unoccupied for to long
where do you want to stay north or south i have a few numbers of reasonably priced decent rooms that i can pm you
Hi John Woody, We're not fussy as to North or South as we're unfamiliar with Goa but are willing to go by recommendation, my wife is considering getting dental work done whilst we are there so that might narrow down the places we would stay. Please PM me with any recommendations, the more information I have will help a lot. Thanks.
Thanks for the info. meagain, we'll get an house sitter to stay part way through our absence to conform with our house insurance, and leave the heating on low...just in case.
Seriously, just somebody popping in regularly was all our insurers wanted when we checked with them, their main worry was undiscovered flooding. Just in case there was a problem, we left a piece of paper in the kitchen and our "popper-inner" put time and date whenever they were there, more for their benefit if asked by insurers when they had been.
