hello, i have decided to look at booking my holiday DIY this time, we usually book a package with thompsons, although i have heard lots of people mention how much cheaper they have got there holidays for by booking online or going DIY. (we have paid alot for our summer hol this year, although it is in cyprus)
problem is i dont know where to start! wel i have been looking for accomadation and already have found some really good deals, but then when i have come to look for flights they seem to be quite expensive.
the cheepest ive come across so far is £732 return for both of us, is this reasonable?
also i am abit of a nervous flyer hence the reason to usually booking with thompsons as thats who my parents used to go with so we followed as i feel safe with them. (probabley been daft!) but would look at flying with other well known airlines (nervously, lol)
ok i am looking at 2 adults goin to either tenerife- playa de las armericas, los cristonas (spelling) or futurventura corelejo (spelling) around 28th december 07 to 4th jan 08. (its my birthday on the 1st, so will be there for it)
sorry for the long post just wondering if anyone has any advice for me? thanks x
I looked at BA to Tenerife from Gatwick - £669 for 2 on the dates you requested.
Look at Monarch and Excel - although Escel do not get the best of reviews!
We always now do diy but we go at very much off peak times. You may still find it cheaper to book a package at that time of year.

The secret (If there is one, is to keep looking! If not daily, then at least weekly!) Prices change for different parts of the world at different times of the year.
Wishing you a Cheap Holiday.
I've just checked flyglobespan and you're talking £415 per person - ouch. With budget airlines it's always better to book the minute the flights are released as they increase in price the nearer the dates get.
Hi linzi lou. We got a late deal to Fuerteventura last year (I think we flew out on 22 or 23 December. There was 4 of us and it was less than £200 per person (that was for 2 x 1 bedroom apartments). I don't think we could have got it cheaper DIY. I am looking to book a weekend break to Majorca next year and the cost of the flights are nearly £200 with Thomsonfly . My advice would be to wait and be prepared to travel a few days either side of your preferred date. Good luck.
