Its a bit hit and miss in October. We have been extremely lucky, have been twice to Turkey in October half term. Once in 2002 to Bodrum and then last year to Olu Deniz. Both times we had glorious sunshine, weather in the late 20's all week, with the occasional cloudy few hours. It can be chilly at night though. We loved it in October, and plan to return again this year if funds will allow.
I think we were very lucky both times with the weather, and came back with fantastic tans, but the week before we were in Olu Deniz last Oct they had freak storms and flooding, so someone must have been looking down on us!!!
Oh and the resorts were all very much still open, but far less people around than during the summer. Great for haggling with shops though, you can get some really good bargains!! All the bars and restaurants and markets were open too!!

Bev do you mean the school holidays in October - ie at the end of October?

Weather can be hit and miss - but when its sunny (which is more than likely) its still hot enough to sunbathe. You may need jackets/jumpers and the blankets on the bed at night.

It does get very quiet in some resorts towards the end of October, with shops, bars etc starting to close up.

Hi,

October is a wind-down month, last year in marmaris many retailers had already shut down in the beginning of the month, partly because it was a bad season and numbers were seriously down.

October weather is unpredictable, prepare for rain and cold and if you get hot and sunny its a bonus.

I was told you could grab end of season bargins, but having been three times that year I found this was not the case, especially in Marmaris, other resorts may of differed.

October is a risk if its sun you want, but then again the prices will be extremely cheap.

Also End of October most of the workers go home, few people in Marmaris during holiday season actually live there, so the place turns into a bit of a ghost town.

everything that has been said is true but still stuff to do and that is the time to get your bargains,
weather wise it is mainly nice during the day but cool at nite, swimming pools tend to be really cold but the sea temperature is still good
hope this helps

we have been going to turkey in oct for many years now and the weather apart from last year has been lovely, so 1 oct with not great weather out of about 20 years isnt bad odds, last year despite having thunder storm for 2 days we still came back with tans, last years freak weather hasnt put me off going again in oct im already booked to go. it is quieter this time of year and we prefer that way, lots of shops were selling off items cheaper, we went 5 times last year and noticed it was cheaper in oct. the weather at night is slightly chilly and you will need a lightweight jacket or cardy, and we noticed at night in bed we needed a blanket, i dont think oct weather is too much of a risk and the odds are higher getting good weather than bad as ive experienced over the years

The first couple of years we went to Turkey we went at the beginning of October and I agree that you need a wrap or light cardigan for the evenings but the days were lovely. Just a day of thunderstorms but they cleared quickly and did not spoil the holiday at all.

My sister in law went to Olu Deniz at the end of October last year for 10 days, and it rained solidly for 6 of them, on the flip side a friend of ours went to Side and had great weather all week, just cold in the evenings.

I am often in Hisaronu/ Oludeniz in October, and would say 4 out of 5 days have been good weather, just cold and windy at night. In the 2nd/3rd week there is the Oludeniz air festival which I highly recomend - you can sit on the beach and watch the world's best paragliders coming down doing their tricks.

If you are going in October go East of Taurus mountains. Antalya, Kemer, Belek Side or Alanya as the season is longer this side of the mountains -they keep the rain off from the predominately westerly weather fronts.

Dont cancel your holiday!!
We went to Marmaris from 6th October to 20th October and the weather was great,we also were worrying about it and apart from maybe needing a cardi in the nights it did not stop us doing anything,we were in the water park or on the beach most days and as someone has said you definitly get the bargains then!!
We have photos of us on the open top boat cruising around the bay and then jumping into the beautiful blue sea....ah memories...wish i was there now!!
