Also, if you are concerned about Havana, Cuba is a big island and the FCO advice makes it clear that the outbreaks of Dengue Fever have been fairly isolated. Santiago da Cuba is a long way from Havana and was the original colonial capital and a great place for people who are looking for more that just a beach type holiday. For example if you are interested in Cuban music then Santiago is definitely the preferable option. Or what about Trinidad? It is about the best preserved colonial city on the whole of the island.

Hi and a belated thanks for your comments on Cuba. You obviously know well and like the island :-)... Surely, we will not cross Cuba off our list for future holidays as its one place we REALLY want to experience. We are not too troubled abot the Dengue Fever but maybe, right at this time, the political implications regarding Fidel's health. Thanks once again
