I am looking for somewhere reasonably hot for a week in November. We want somewhere quite cheap and it would be for 2 adults and a child. I was looking at sharm, but also at the canaries. Can anyone give me advice as to which area would be the better one for us as the prices as similar. We are also looking for AI as it works out cheaper for us.

It depends what you like to do. I think there will be more variety of things to do for your child and you in the Canaries i.e trips out etc. Tenerife is nice but I think has less AI than the other islands.
If you list out the sort of things you like to do on holiday it maybe easy to advise more on which destination.

Thanks for the advice, I will post in the AI forum as well. I am not bothered about doing much as we are just wanting to get away and relax for a week. My son (age 7) will be quite happy with a pool or the beach and just play all day
