Hi everyone,
Who is going to the Louis Creta Princess in 2008 and when? Me and the family will be there for 2 weeks from Aug 12th and we can't wait. It will be our first trip to Crete after having our last two holidays at the HV Turkey.
So, let everyone know when you are going or if you have been before, any advice and tips will be welcome for us newbies to this hotel.
My family and I are going too this year on 19th August for two weeks. Never been before. When I say family this is my husband and I, and our three children, aged 8, 11 and 14 and my daughter friend, aged 14.
Having read reviews on this hotel, overall, most of them were pretty good. There is some talk that the hotel has been refurbished in 2007 (according to one brochure). Can't remember which one it is though, think it might have been Cosmos. Anyway, any knowledge of this from people who went last year, or even this year would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

welcome to the greek forums of HT.. have you looked at the
I have looked at the reviews. That is what I based my decision to book the hotel on. But, I am looking for that little bit extra information and tips that are not covered in the review. I took part in the Pegasos Palace 2007 thread on the Turkey discussion board and it was very very helpful. So I thought I would start one like that for the Louis Creta Princess.
Let's hope the hotel lives up to expectations. Would love to hear from anyone who has been this year. Your comments would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Linda
LL no one will have been yet this year as the greek season dosn't start till 1st may
In the Turkey discussion thread, information like where to book excursions other than using First Choice Reps & where to get your pool towels from was really useful.
going to this hotel 1 july fo 2 weeks cant wait any info before we travel would be very helpful you know the little tips that help the most
Have a great time and tell us all about it when you come back.
My family (me, husband & 7 year old daughter) went to this hotel last year and are going again this year (12th-26th August). I did put a report on the hotel reviews so I hope that helped.
We are going again this year basically because my daughter and husband both said it was their best holiday yet (we have been on many holidays) in Greecee.
If you enjoy a relaxing holdiay then this is the one for you, or if you like lots of activities for both adults and children then again this is one for you. The first choice kids club was great and hopefully will be again this year. The hotel animation team were also very good and tried to involve everyone (if you dont want to join in they will leave you alone). If you need any more further information then just ask.
Remember, everyone likes different things for their holiday, but all I can add is, if my daughter and husband are happy, then I am and can enjoy my holiday.
We will be there at the same time this year then. Where are you flying from?
Can you give us any useful hints such as if the hotel provides pool towels etc?
Thanks.
Yes the Hotel does provide free beach towels, you collect them at reception and then exchange them after 3 days.
We are flying from Manchester, I think it at 8.15am.
The hotel also provides a free bus service into Chania. You have to put your name on a list at reception the day before and what time bus you will be catching (first one is at 8.00am and I think the next one might be at 11.00am). The bus allows you 2 hours to spend in town and then brings you back to the Hotel and depending what bus you catch you may be back in time for lunch (and if the bus driver doesn't need any money from the bank!).
The pools are fantastic and in June last year there was loads of space for everyone.
The drinks facilities are also excellent, as it is self-service and that means hardly any queue's and as many drinks as you want. (We have been to some all inclusives where it usually is only 2 drinks per person).
Once again if you need any more hints or tips on this hotel, please let me know. (I can't wait to go now!)
We are flying from Gatwick at 07.30 on the 12th so assuming there are no delays, we will be there just before you.
We stayed at the Esperides Beach In Rhodes in 2004 and the facilities for kids was amazing , and the animation team was amazing. Im a bit concered that there is no play areas etc for kids. Correct me if Im wrong and let me know if there is any sort of trampoline/bouncy castle places in the area for the kids or anything else.
Also what the beach like next to the hotel is it soft sand or yet another greek shingly beach.
You need to bear in mind that it's three years since I visited. I am sure the beach hasn't changed, it was what I think of as a typical greek beach, shingle & sand, people only seemed to use it when doing donuts, banana boat etc. But I wouldn't let this put you off. The swimming pools are some of the best I have had on this type of holiday. Much better than the Belcekic Beach I went to the following year. They may be colder May/June though as they are large.
My kids were older so didn't use it, but I am sure there was a pirate ship play area, there was also the pool tables in the lounge. It was multicultural in July, English, Irish, French, Germans, Greeks, no one nation dominated. There was a hotel animation team and FC rep team, if you like organised activity you should be fine. We aren't into this so hire cars & go out & about but there was lots going on.
If you are going for a week the isolation may not be much of an issue, you can get to Platanais on the wally trolley, plus I think there is a public bus on the main road & they had a free coach into Chania, which you had to book on the morning of the evening you wished to use it. We thought the food was great for AI buffet style food. It dosen't have any a la cartes so if you don't like the food you are stuck with it or need to get to Platanias, which has every restaurant you could ever want, or better still go into Chania and eat there in a nice setting for a treat.
Hope this helps, Doe
Thanks for the info ! Not sure yet got a shortlist of a few different hotels/places.
Most drinks ar on tap (beer, water and soft drinks). If you want a spirit or a cocktail the bar staff are only to happy to do this for you.
I enjoyed in the morning the Iced Coffee (really refreshing). The alcoholic drinks start at 10.00am (a bit early for me, but I suppose it must be 11.00am somewhere in the world).
The night time entertainment wasn't for me, but most people seemed to enjoy it.
How old are your children?
The first choice reps last year did an evening club for children that ran from 9.00pm till 11.00pm. It was called Movies and Munchies and included a recent DVD movie, popcorn, sweets and a few games. This was not free, but for 4 Euros I thought (so did my daughter) that this was great value and made a change from watching the animation team all night.
The nearest town was called platanius. This was very busy at night times, with all the usual nick nacks on offer, but quite expensive. There is a local bus outside the hotel, or 12 euros in a taxi. Best day to go was Tuesday, when the hotel was quiet at night because of the Tuesday departures.
My Kids are 9 & 12 so my youngest will be able to use the clubs. My Son will not as he is too old. Do they provide any activities for the kids that are too old for the clubs do you know?
When I went my kids were 9 and 11, which is probably a good age group for this hotel, from what I remember the older kids also joined in the activites aimed at adults, like the pool aerobics and water volley that are on everyday.
Cool, he is the sporty type so he'll enjoy that. It's the evenings that we want him to have something to do though.
