Going back a bit, but we where half board at sun island. Think in two weeks we spent around £1,000 - which is not to bad on drinks, ice cream and something to eat of a dinner time. I just took a few hundred pounds in doller travellers and some money in dollors, plus a credit card.
Regarding tips, your waiter in the restaurant i think we just left him $50 at the end of the two weeks and the same for the person who kept your room tidy. They really do work hard and make your holiday feel nice, so its worth the money for tips
Hi all, can you not pay for your drinks as you go?
No. Everything you buy is charged to your room. You can usually check your bill at any time to see how much you are spending. I dont see any reason why you cant pay your bill on a daily basis, but most people just pay at the end of the holiday.
You can get married in the maldives. I have photos off websites to prove it
Yes you can but it's not legally recognised here in the UK. Hence you need to either have a regisry office wedding here to make it legal or get legally married somewhere else that is recognised by the UK and then have another ceremony in the Maldives.
Yes you are correct sorry
When it rains in this area does it rain constantly or is it a quick shower ?
Any help would be appreciated
I have been reliably informed (by someone who lives in the Maldives that when there is rain it is usually short, sharp and torrential. They is more of a chance of a cloudy day but I'm more than willing to take that risk to go back to the Maldives.
We have been to the Caribbean in May for the last 6 years and the weather has always been fantastic, but since discovering the Maldives we would rather go back there in low season than go back to the Caribbean where we know the weather will be perfect. Can't beat that peace and tranquility. I say go for it!

The only downside was that it was the Football Euro Cup and all the usual nightly entertainment was cancelled and replaced with 2 very large TV screens in the bar area -- Rather spoiled it a little as I didn't expect to travel all that way to have football shoved in front of me whilst trying to relax (especially when the previous year in October was excellent nighly entertainment with bands and cultural shows)
I suppose it all depends on what kind of enetertainment you like -- but May is the start of the World Cup... So don't expect any entertainment in the way of anything replaxing.
Actually the world cup doesn't start till June (around 9/10th) so May will be football free. Hence why i booked my holiday which returns on May 29th - If I booked a holiday during the world cup my hubby might divorce me!
Sorry Tracy my mistake ---- Hope you have a good one.....
I would love the football to be on but the mrs would moan ! Thats why I want to go in May so we can be back for the world cup. Thanks for your help
I asked at the travel agents and they could only sell me a package deal. I don't need a hotel as we will be staying with freinds. I don't want to end up paying scheduled prices if I can get a seat on a charter without having to book a hotel package with it. Any suggestions where I should be looking would be greatly appreciated.
Unless things have changed, I believe that only scheduled flights operate to Mauritius, which means you're stuck with Air France (via CDG), BA or Air Mauritius.
Emirates often do cheap deals to Mauritius
Thanks I'll try their web sites.
Me and my wife went to Maldives in mid August, and apart from the odd overcast day and a few stormy nights, it was great weather! Rather humid and lots of mossies though - also the seas are a bit choppy if you go out on trips - but it was the best honeymoon holiday one can hope for - I hear Jan-Mar are the best months weatherwise!
Maldives album.
