We`ve been to Benidorm severaly times, this area is our personal favorite. It`s at the begining of Poniente surronded by some nice terrace bars. The White horse is one of the nicest, in the winter we usually end up here at about 5 pm for a coffee and brandy and to watch the sun going down. The surronding bars are all nice as well. If you want coffee and cakes there`s a nice bar 200 yds on the right as you come out of Mar Blau. There`s also a nice coffee/cake shop 200 yds to the left called Milords.

If you like Tapas you`ll be spoilt for choice in Tapas Alley, turn left keep walking for about 10/15 mins then turn left towards the beach. Or there`s a nice one 300yds to the right up a side street.

If you like Chinese the first Chinese you come to left from the hotel, We think it`s one of the best. We usually go at lunchtime as it`s less busy, their meal of the day including house wine 3-7 euros pp. If you want to go on a night it might be worth booking. I think it`s called Pato chino.

Queens opposite Tapas alley have a good menu, only tried a bar snack which was very good.

If you walk into Levante not far from Macdonalds is another nice Chinese called Hong Kong. Just before this on a small side street (opp Indian) is a english bar called the Red Lion, they do a great breakfast.

If you fancy a bus ride theres a bus stop at the beging of Poniente it goes to La Cala.

If your following the sun in winter start at the being of Levante then head for your hotel at about 5 pm. Of course you need to top up on drinks on the way, there`s plenty of sun traps on the way.

Have a fab time.

do benidorm shops shut down at the end of the season in october.
has anyone stayed in the marblau hotel
Reply
They do not actually "shut down". Benidorm is an all year round resort. However, some of them might close earlier in the evenings than they do during the main summer months.

Ribena, have you booked through a tour operator ? If you have then ask them to put a note on your booking. If not email the hotel a week before and ask them for a nice room for your wedding aniversary. Do mention that you have heard lovely reviews of the hotel, I am sure they will go out of their way to be hospitable.Have you booked a sea view if not they may upgrade you free of charge.

If you don`t get anything never mind but you will be situated in one off the nicest parts of Benidorm.

Percy, i would estimate that it would be at least a 30 minute walk from the Mar Blau to The Venus, maybe a little more, depending on how fast you walk!! Lol!...The Mar Blau Hotel actually overlooks Parque de Elche (Dove Park) and the Poniente Beach. This is just on the edge of the Old Town area, so is busy, more so with Spanish visitors rather than British, and you are therefore close to all the bars, shops, restaurants etc, that this area has to offer. As far as clubs go....if you mean Cabaret Bars, then no there are not any in your immediate area, the nearest one would be a small one called The Tower Lounge on Calle Gerona, but again you'd be about 30 mins walk to the main Cabaret Bars in the Levante Area!
