We have stayed at the Mara a couple of times, and really enjoyed them and the location they are in.
The apartments are located about a 10 ? minute STROLL from the harbour area and about 5 minutes from Piso Krioneri beach and the town beach is only a couple of minutes further on again.
The Mara is situated on a very small and quiet road that leads up to olive groves (you can walk through the olive groves and over the hill to Lichnos beach, get a water taxi back).
When you arrive you will be dropped of near the Rezi hotel and will have to walk for about 5 minutes up to your accommodation as the road is too narrow for the bus to get up, your luggage will be delivered to the Mara by van in a few minutes.
The Mara is a relatively new accommodation and is fitted out with a small kitchen that has a small cooker, fridge and all the other essentials.
The fittings are all of a good standard and there is good space in the rooms and also a good sized balcony, there is also good storage for clothes etc, I think air conditioning has now been fitted in the rooms so this will help keep them cool.
The pool area is good sized with a fairly large sized pool that slopes quite quickly so warn children, there are still no parasols available (always promised, maybe next year) at the pool area, and it does get very hot there is a small covered area next the pool that is to be developed in to a small pool bar, but this isn't completed yet, however it is a good shaded area to go and sit and chill out of the sun for a few minutes.
A few minutes walk back down the road you will pass the Yannis Taverna which is really nice, not very expensive but serves lovely Greek meals and is run by Yannis who will look after you very well, they also have great Greek nights (on a Tuesday I think), a few yards up the road (near Villa Andreas) there is a small supermarket run by Greg who is a smashing guy, here you will be able to get your essentials.
Slightly further down the road there is a larger supermarket and a bakery, which makes lovely fresh bread, cakes and pastries etc.
The best (IMHO) fish restaurant in Parga is undoubtedly Stephanos up past the castle heading for Valtos beach, also has a stunning view on to Valtos, there is also a lovely new Taverna up past the Villa Andreas called Perivoli which is well worth a visit.
Boat trips, you can go to Paxos and anti Paxos both really lovely small islands, you can also go to Corfu and also now Albania (via Corfu) by ferry, all the trips can be booked easily in Parga at one of the small tour operators in the town.
Hope this helps
Graham
Thanks for the info, all very helpful. We are really looking forward to our hol. Parga looks a lovely place with lots to do. How long is the trip to Corfu and what is the price? Boring question, do you know if the studios at mara have kettles?
