Hi, im trying to book my holidays for next year but not sure where to go! I've been thinking about marbella but not sure what it's like!
What is the nightlife like- i.e bars and restaurants? are the drinks and food very expensive? what is the 'dress code' in normal bars- my partner sometimes likes to where shorts at night especially if it's really hot!
also, can anyone recommend a nice 4/5* hotel on the beach?
Any info will bw very much appreciated!

I've lived in Marbella 9 years and I love it. Something for every taste and every price. Good 5 star hotel on the beach is the El Fuerte but its very expensive. There is one about ten minutes drive from the centre I think its called Marbella Playa and is on a lovely white beach. Not much around it though, just a few beach bars.
Shorts are fine in bars anytime. the only time you will see anyone famous is in Puerto Banus and then they only go there if they need some publicity. "Stars" tend to eat at places in the hills around Marbella. In Banus you may see corrie/eastenders actors. I've seen a few and Max Clifford, Kilroy, Julio Iglesia and Beckham. Bruce Willis used to come often.

I had a look on the website for the el fuerte hotel and it looks realy nice- there appears to be 2 in marbella the Hotel El Fuerte and the Hotel Fuerte Miramar, anyone got any opinions on which one is the best?!
Also, what are the following hotels like- Melia Marbella Dinamar and Gran Melia Don Pepe, these both look lovely too!

I heard last week that the melia don pepe is closing down for refurbishment. The Hotel fuerte Mirimar is just in front of the el Fuerte its a newer buiding but on the main road.
been offered the use of a friends aunties apartment in marbella and me and 4 or 5 mates (17-18 yr old males) were going to go dont know much about marbella and found out thats its a bit of an upmarket resort along the lines of st tropez is there still enough for us to do and some decent places to go on a night (on our best behaviour lol) any advice would be appreciated, cheers x )
My best advice is just to go and check out all the bars!!. Yes it can be done - just pace yourself.
Always remember that a taxi ride up the coast to other resorts is very cheap (especially with so many of you in a taxi) and you can nearly dictate what kind of night action you want.
