Can anyone please give any advise about these hotels. we have been looking at these hotels and they look lovely. where is the best place to book these- direct with the hotel? has anyone been can give some feedback, we have ruled out the med palace as the reviews are not very good.
would be very grateful for absolutely anything you can say about these hotels. we are just looking at the minute, flights are booked but are scouting out accomodation.
many thanks
Hi Glacier,We travel regularly to Tenerife and have stayed at the Mediterranean Palace, many times now.(going again on the 3rd March) Having been able to use the facilities at the hotels YOU are interested in. You can't go wrong. These are lovely hotels,in an excellent area, right next to the beach. I personally wouldn't book with the hotel direct,as we've found it to be more expensive this way. We've just saved hundreds of pounds,in comparison,by booking with Octopus travel on the net. It's only my opinion, but don't rule out the Med Palace yet,the only thing that it is in need of is a little updating in SOME of the rooms (we have been in rooms where there were a few dents on the doors etc.,but the service is excellent and the hotel and rooms are immaculate, with maid service every day).Did you have a look at the reviews on the Hotels on this forum? The Cleopatra palace is mentioned. (I would agree that it is mainly very wealthy people who seem to choose to stay here.) The reviews are mainly excellent for the Med Palace. Hope you manage to get booked for what you're looking for.
I am hoping it is not going to be too posh though, I want to feel comfortable. Did you just book the hotel accomodation only through octopus as we already have our flights. we were thinking of upgrading to a suite as we will have the 2 kids in our room
many thanks
They are lovely Hotels, glacier. Yes,we booked accomodation only,on a B&B basis.Good idea to upgrade to a suite. These are extra specially nice and important for you...,much more spacious (well, in the Med Palace, anyway) Stayed in one for my 40th birthday in November 2003. P.S.I should have said "more wealthy than your average Joe Bloggs" (that includes myself ) rather than "very wealthy people",wouldn't want to put you off! You WILL feel comfortable. I often worry about that myself.
Ive booked the mare nostrum with wintersunshine holidays, having looked at all the online agencies they came out the best value We will be in either the julio caesar or the marco antonio on a half board basis. booked flights with B.A going from manchester on 17th may and its costing each of us including the flight £427 each which is excellent value when you compare with the tour operators.
Hope you get fixed up.
best wishes
jeanie
I just put in a search for 17th May for 1 week gong to that hotel and the cheapest price was £590 just for the accomodation.
Am I doing something wrong? how did you get such a good deal?
The accomodation only is not out for November yt, we have to wait till about April so i have just been putting 10 nights in OCtober just to get a rough idea. We got our flights for £150 each from Newcastle which we though were really good.
P.S.the price we paid for accomm. is for two weeks and should say that
the price quoted by the hotel was £1336.72!!!
P.P.S.Just worked out that we've paid about £590 pounds EACH (return flights and accommodation) for two weeks. When you look at it like that, that is quite a good deal, after all.

I think the secret is to book early,Wintersunshine always has early booking discount and once you are a customer of theirs they offer a further percentage off on top.We are going out in march and booked flights with B.A from manchester for four people for £406 which beats all the budget airlines
Were retired you see and can take off when we see a good offer.
By the way sovereign cost for the same holiday in may is £720 each.
regards
jeanie
http://www.medhotels.com are fairly reasonable too. If you compare the prices with http://www.expogroupo.com the difference in price is quite something!
Hi,I've been told that When we stayed at the Med Palace, we had a lovely room with a huge balcony and a little dip pool! This was a suite and was worth the extra money. We found that people were wandering in a lot to take photos, which made us feel like royalty cos' we were staying there!
Have a lovely holiday!
Mrs Moo xxx
Well said Mrs Moo!....,but I think I'm biased! I really can't help it, I just love the place.
We stayed in the Med Palace on B&B basis and also loved it. Found the place to be spotlessly clean (there was forever someone cleaning) breakfast was brilliant and our room was huge. Would definitely go back again.
do you think it is well worth the extra for a suite? Would a standard room fit in 4 beds comfortable enough?
Hi glacier,in my opinion,it is well worth the extra for a suite. The rooms are much more spacious and the bathrooms are quite a lot larger than in a standard room. I would also say that 4 beds would definitely not fit into a standard room comfortably. With a mountain view room, you'll either get a good view of the main street running past the hotel, which we quite like, as we like to watch the world go by (and remember it's a really nice area) or you'll get a view of the side street, with the compostella beach apartments opposite (looks perfectly fine from the outside). We request a higher floor room as they tend to be a bit more private.i.e.....not so many people wandering past having a look into your room. Hope this is of help.
P.P.S.I'll take some photos of the Hotel rooms and the Hotel in general, when we're there from 3rd March and upload them into the photo galleries when I come home. This'll give you a better idea of what it's all like.
Going back again this year but will stay in the Julus Cesar. One place you must go is for food is either Restaurant Barca, just along the seafront walkway to the left or continue along the seafront path to Los C and just as you pass through the bridge there is a fantastic seafood restaurant called Ricon Del Marino.
Fantastic food to compliment a fantastic Holiday on a fantastic Island.
Tony why is it you do not want to book to go to the med palace again, was the other julio cesear nicer?
I wanted to request a low floor, does anyone know what the pool view suites are like for a view on a low floor? are they noisy? the main reason for a low floor is the kids, but i want to be able to see things
Nothing wrong with the Med Palace, loved the marbel bathroom, bath robes and slippers and the ability to convert the minibar to a frideg for 2 euro perday. Staff are fantastic - Zetlander was my fav, I just fancied a change of hotel. yet again I have booked with Thomas Cook, usual telesales trick include and offer everything and start off at top price but then when you ask them to strip everything away, such as pool view, aircraft meals, Insurance etc and agree a proce they then ask if you would like free upgrade, pool view etc. Totally bizarre.
This time to be mega cheeky I have asked for a free upgrade to include seaview and a pluge pool!
Roll on July - especailly as it has just started to snow
If i booked a mountain view basic suite with the view to being upgraded when i got there i would be gutted if i wasnt upgraded to a suite with a pool view.
have the hotel offered you a free upgrade?
