I am not sure why Turkey would be considered as 'not very nice' for a group of lads, what reasons have you been given? Marmaris is a very popular resort for groups of youngsters, and people of all ages. I cannot think why its any worse than other popular foreign destinations, for a group of lads. In fact from what I've seen on the television showing youngsters on holiday, it's probably a lot tamer than a lot of other places. There are many families who go on holiday there, its not mainly young single groups.
The crime rate is also very low, as the authorities do not tolerate bad behaviour, so if you are worried about his safety, your fears are probably unfounded.
Your nephew and his friends should have a great time.

I have seen many groups of lads in Turkey and they have all had a great time. Marmaris is a big, lively resort and is very popular with young singles, both male and female, families, couples, anyone really.

I have heard of trouble in some holiday resorts like Malia or Faliraki but not in the Turkish resorts. I would say they will have a great time, I bet these people saying it's "not vey nice" have never even been there...

Im going out to Marmaris again this year with a group of my girlfriends. I will feel safer in Marmaris than I would in Tenerife. Don't get me wrong there will be your dodgy side to Marmaris (drugs etc) but it wont be pushed in your face like it is in Tenerife. Sorry this
isn't a tenerife bashing post but Im just trying to get across that Marmaris is a great resort and much like every other resort, if not better as there isn't as much drugs and violence. The lads can either go to the bar street at the marina or the beach front. The beach front is mainly full of british young people in the bars and clubs whereas bar street is very cosmopolitan. Is more down bar street that any problems happen, much like town on a Saturday night!

The problem will be.....getting you all to come home....Turkey is addictive, you will love it

kev and dee here from bristol, we are both in our mid 40s ( young mid 40s may i add )and we have flights booked to dalaman friday 3rd july arriving early sat 4th , we are flying back 17th july 1800hrs ish , we were just wondering does any one on here know of anybody or indeed themselves that rent out villas ( pref with a pool ) or near a beach that doesnt cost a fortune like most of the websites brochures etc , looking to sleep 2 obviously most villas sleep more , thats why we find villas are expensive as they usually sleep 6,8,10 etc then they all share the cost , but its just me and my darling wife looking for a nice romantic fortnight away WITHOUT THE KIDS , if no luck its a self catering holiday , anyway think you got my drift , looking forward to hearing from anyone

I think with just two of you it may be cheaper to look at a private apartment rather than a villa. We stayed at a lovely apartment in Turunc a couple of years ago, it had a shared pool but a lot of the time we were the only ones in there. We went with Holiday Lettings. hi shades 5 look in owners direct we booked a lovely appartment with private pool last year and there were a few 2/3 apartments around the pool it was never busy.we stayed im ovaick near hisorronu

what sort of resort are you looking for , quiet, busy, traditional turkish etc, sandy beach or shingle etc ,might help us to point you right direction.

we have a small apt that we occasionally rent out in akyaka but theres no pool, although the hotel 5 mins away let you use that free, if i can help in anyway let me know

Thanks everyone for your replies. Someone had said that young British lads might have a problem with the Turkish men (their reasoning was that the Turks like to have the pick of the women/girls holidaying alone .

My husband is Turkish and he always got on really well with the British guys when he was working in Gumbet, so do all his friends. The Turkish men do love women but they also have a good laugh with the guys too, don't worry.

The Turks and British lads always seem to enjoy the banter between them!

Oh yes they love the girls our Turkish lads but they love to bond with other male nationalities, they build up a really good rapore, dont think will have any bother,besides they want you in the bars so they can get there wages, would be frowned upon to make war with the tourists enjoy

I don't think they will have any problems either. I have been going to Icmeler and Marmaris for 5 years now 2 0r 3 times a year and have never seen any trouble. The Turksih police are very strict and wont have drunken behaviour on the streets they would have you in a pair of hand cuffs before you knew what was happeing so it is very safe I would say.
