I went in June. You can pay for your tickets at the port but have to make an on-line reservation before you travel.

The options are car ferry, catamaran or Hydrofoil.

One word of warning. I went out on the friday on the catamaran and booked a return ticket for 8am monday morning. Having got up at 5-30 to get ready and return my hire car before arriving at the port. When the ticket office eventually opened I was informed that there wasn't an 8 am sailing on that monday and I would have to wait until 4-30pm.

Luckily, aking at the other booth they allowed me to transfer my ticket to the 9am Hydrofoil sailing. These are booked at different booths in the port.
