I know the aparts your ref to - they were with Thompson years ago - But i think they have changed name now. They fell into a bit of a state - but seen this year they were open again. Not sure if its the same owner, Mehmet - but his son still owns the market next door (which used to be the restaurant at the top of the stairs from the bar/pool)

The name was the Meneske - pronounced meneksha. I am off early next year will try and find out

Dont worry bout it John - just brings back good memories of our first holiday there. We stayed in the Lobelia and had to walk past there every night to get down the front - we couldnt get past the menekse without being hauled in for a drink - Mehmet was the owner then and had a thing for my mum - only he couldnt speak a word of english, would just sit there gazing into her eyes and muttering what i assumed were sweet nothings in turkish!!

It is facing the Amphi theatre and across the road from the cemetery and also not far from the market.

It is called by the both names you have stated.

i gather that the difference in the pictures is that there must be 2 buildings then one the hotel the other the apartment block ?

my mom and dad will be in ichmeler the same time were in marmaris and i been told u can get a bus or a boat to there from marmaris is this expensive and how long does it take ?

thankyou for your quick reply john and your help

Its about 50p on a bus - a bit more by taxi boat - but only takes 10 minutes

They will need to take the dolmus from icmeler and to make it easier get off facing the Tansas supermarket then cross the road and wait for I think the number 3 or 2 bus going back the other way and it does have the areas on the front of the bus so they shouldn't get lost.

You could make it easier and ask to be moved to an apartments in Icmeler

ok just got back from marmaris we stayed at the meneske hotel and apartments. the rooms are very basic and the bathrooms are tiny no bath just wash bowl , toilet and shower .so tiny infact you have one foot under the sink and one foot in the shower while sitting on the toilet , and you will be one of the lucky few if you have a shower curtain . the air conditioning is only in the bed room so the living space which is also 2nd bedroom dont benifit from the air conditioning . we tryed not to stay round the hotel or its small pool area as all the bar staff ever played was over loud techno music . if you asked them to change the music they wouldnt . but as you can use any hotel s pool even though your not staying there this was not a problem , we just used the blue moons pool over the road . the maid was the exception she kept the rooms quite clean and changed the beds every other day .
if your visiting marmaris do check out honeys bar and domino's bar ...... honeys bar does good food and the staff are friendly gengis , marli and jimmy are just great and make you feel welcome .
domino's is just fantasic the staff are awsome and enjoy a laugh , mermet ,samet ,elsin, melek and dogan and the rest of the gang make your evening the best . the food is realy great and is one of the few places that actualy serve english sausages at breakfast . they have kool theme nights including traditional turkish night with bellie dancer and breakdancers , karaoke and quiz nights . there just oposite the ampitheatre so not to hard to find . do go on the excursions but dont book them with your hotel rep s book them at one of the many booking offices along the streets its much cheaper . all inclusive boat trips the turkish baths and the jeep safari are brilliant so dont miss out on them . but dont pay anymore than £9 english for jeep or boat trip .
